Description
A Note on This Pressing: Like many Beatles records there are many versions of Rubber Soul floating around out there so here are some facts about THIS release:
- Capitol / EMI Records Mono T 2442 / T-2442
- White edging on front - "File Under: The Beatles"
- The number "3" is printed underneath Freeman and next to RIAA logo on back right corner.
- Matrix / Runout (Label A): T1-2442-G2 (in triangle): I AM
- Matrix / Runout (Label B): T2-2442-G6 (in triangle): I AM
- Rainbow ring on record label.
- RUBBER SOUL wider than Capitol Records logo.
- "The Beatles" name is not on the record label. Artists are listed as follows underneath RUBBER SOUL
"JOHN LENNON, PAUL McCARTNEY,
GEORGE HARRISON and RINGO STARR"
Original inner Capitol inner sleeve is included, though the record will be traveling to you in a generic sleeve, the printed packed separately as one side is entirely split and one corner is bent.
Jacket is also VG with minimal ringwear, light discoloration from age on back cover. Not-too-serious wear on seams & corners. Someone has also written XXXV on the white top margin on the front cover, it's pretty small and written in pencil.
Please note, I grade conservatively and by the Goldmine standard, here is what you can expect...
For the VG vinyl - Generally worth 25% of Near Mint value. Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached.
For the VG Jacket - Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. [This] will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time. Goldmine price guides with more than one price will list Very Good as the lowest price.
***WITH ALL THIS SAID if you have a Crosley or other budget turntable that comes in a suitcase, there is a chance with this, and every record really, that the tone arm, being the weak little thing it is, might bounce off, this is not a sign of a deficient record, this is an issue with the turntable. If you encounter this problem a penny taped to the top of the head of your tone arm generally fixes that right up.***
