Description
The Beatles: Rubber Soul ‘LOUD CUT’ 1965 UK LP (PMC 1267) PARLOPHONE MONO 1st Press -1/-1 Very Good.
From my own collection, and well cared for. Always stored vertically in a protective sleeve, and regularly cleaned.
I’d describe the overall package as minimum very good, perhaps VG+, but no better than that.
The photos, which form part of the description, show all defects, such as they are, but my description below should also be read, in order to give the best possible overall grading for this lot, but first, the all important pressing details.
Matrix Side 1: YEX 579-1
Mother: 4
Stamper: HL
Matrix Side 2: YEX 580-1
Mother: 2
Stamper: GH
Vinyl: Some hairlines and marks to both sides, including scratch to side 2, and a small scratch to side 1. However, no skips, jumps or sticking, and nothing to spoil the overall audio pleasure. Minor ‘pops’ between some tracks, and ‘crackling’ on run in on both sides, but the overall audio is approaching excellent.
Side 1.
Minor crackinling/pops on run in.
Track 1. Excellent playback, with no pops etc. Very clear.
Track 2. Barely audible interference on intro, slight click in first verse, and a couple on run in to second verse.
Track 3. Minor, barely audible interference on intro.
Track 4. Some cracks/pops on run in.
Track 5. A couple of pops on intro.
Track 6. Two ‘pops’ on run in.
Track 7. Very slight popping into Michelle, but clear throughout, with very little reverb in the quieter moments, which is notoriously apparent on most copies of the ‘loud cut’ pressing on Michelle.
Side 2.
Some relatively quite cracks and pops on run in.
Track 1. Clear
Track 2. Tiny pop on lead in.
Track 3. Quiet on intro and throughout.
Track 4. As above.
Track 5. Minor pops on intro, but clear throughout playback.
Track 6. Barely audible interference on intro. Clear throughout.
Track 7. As above.
The overall audio experience is minimum Very Good plus, approaching excellent.
Labels: Some markings and spindle ware, but labels are generally bright and clean, and free of any writing/graffiti.
Sleeve: Laminated flip back sleeve has some scuffing, but no rips or tares. Small loss of picture above George’s head.
The spine is generally strong, with minor creasing.
