Description
One of the most cherished of all Beatle albums and for me, the beginning of their great period of peerless songwriting. Initially released in the UK in December of 1965, 'Rubber Soul' spent 9 weeks at the top of the UK chart, 3 weeks longer than its time at Number 1 in the U.S.
On offer is the 1st UK issue in Stereo (PCS 3075) which has stunning and dramatic instrument separation and detail. Stereo versions are a little bit harder to come by simply because less were manufactured. As we all know, Mono was still the prevalent version for the record buying public in 1965. Unfortunately, it seems even if you do find a 1st Stereo issue it will often be plagued with irreversible groove damage and other issues. The copy offered here while not "Mint Perfect", is very close to it and certainly a keeper for most collectors and audiophiles.
Cover: Excellent+ .....very nicely preserved with the lamination still holding up beautifully after 53 years. At certain angles one can see some creases in and around Ringo's face but the striking gleam and shine of the lamination more than makes up for these minor issues. The spine is near perfect....the back has almost no defects ....a very nice example.
Original Inner-Sleeve: Excellent(minus)....one side of the poly-lined inner is almost perfect; while the other has foxing, spotting, and age discoloration. A better quality inner will be included to house the precious record.
Record: Near Mint(minus)*.....the weight of the vinyl is probably close to or above 160g....very impressive. The labels are fine and show some spindle traces and light foxing. Under strong light one can see a few light hairlines, marks, and scuff lines but these did not have any bearing on the audio. * The only issue worth mentioning is a very light scratch which begins about halfway through the song 'The Word' and stretches into the song 'Michelle'. It did not elicit any ticks on 'The Word' but occasionally educed very light ticks on 'Michelle', a track which, as most of us know, is already plagued with pressing issues. So In short, virtually EVERY song grades close to Near Mint with the exception of 'Michelle' which I'll assign a grade of VG. A fairly minor blemish on an otherwise near-perfect record which can sometimes fetch $1,000.00+ in collector's circles.
