PLAY TESTED OCTOBER 19TH.
ABSOLUTELY NO SKIPS, JUMPS, OR STICKING.
OVERALL AUDIO: EXCELLENT.
The Beatles: Rubber Soul 1st Mono Press ‘Loud Cut' (original Emitex inner). Excellent audio. Sans-Serif label font.
This is the original first press ‘loud cut’ edition of this truly seminal album, in the original tracing-paper lined Emitex inner sleeve, in a front laminated flip-back Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve, with black labels, yellow logo, and silver print. ‘Gramoohone’ perimeter rim text, and ‘Sold In U.K.’ to labels. These are the variation A ‘Sans-Serif’ labels, that adorned the very early ‘loud cut’ pressings. Their distinguishing feature being that the * credit indicator is spaced away from the song title.
Matrix Numbers:
Side 1: YEX 579-1
Mother: 6
Stamper: HO
Side 2: YEX 580-1
Mother: 3
Stamper: MO
Vinyl description: (Visual) EX.
Some light hairlines/marks/scratches, but absolutely nothing significant or feelable. A slightly more visual scuff across the early tracks of side 2, but again nothing heavy or feelable. Nothing that adversely affects the audio.
Playback:
ABSOLUTELY NO SKIPS, JUMPS OR STICKING.
Very light surface noise on side 1 intro, followed by a couple of clicks after ‘Nowhere Man’. Likewise, light clicks just before ‘The Word’. Beautifully quiet during the notoriously affected ‘Michelle’. Very light clicks during the run-out/dead wax. VG+/Ex
Side 2. Other than a few light clicks/pops on the introduction, this side is excellent throughout.
Thus, most playback, particularly on side 2, with a is clean on both sides, and quiet between tracks, other than occasional light pops.
Absolutely no skips or jumps throughout, with an overall audio experience of excellent.
Labels: Ex
These are the Variation A, Sans-Serif font labels, which were only on the initial pressings. They later changed to Times New Roman, even on the ‘loud cut’ pressings.
Side 1, is clean, no graffiti, some/little spindle ware, with KT tax code.
Side 2 as above, (no tax code).
Sleeve. VG+
The front laminated G&L flip-back sleeve is minimum VG+.
Signs of minor creasing to corners, and a little top right corner damage.
The rear has minor scuffs/age ware, most prominent to top left, and the name ‘Mollie Burd’ in black pen to top right, above ‘mono’.
The spine is strong, clean and legible.
Emitex Inner: VG
Tracing paper lined original Emitex inner is in VG condition, though with a seam split to right side. Also with ‘Parlophone’ and ‘Rubber Soul the Beatles’ in pen.
I’d describe the overall condition of the item as VG+ minimum, though with excellent audio. I do though tend to be quite conservative in my descriptions, and would rather under play the condition, than leave buyers disappointed.
