The Beatles - Rubber Soul, 1968 stereo reissue.
Another gem from fathers collection. This is a 3rd issue of The Beatles '65 classic pressed in 1968 and not easy to find. They are of course a reissue of the original 1965 stereo pressing. It was purchased new by my father all those decades ago and has been safely kept in his collection since. The last time the record so much as moved from its place was 1983 when we moved to our current property, literally 75yds from the previous one! It has not had a single play since at least 1983 when i was born. Almost the entire record collection remained unused since this point apart from myself playing the odd one or two records. Net result is you are looking at a record in quite amazing condition. There are minimal signs of play across the playing surfaces with only one or two hairline type marks visible in strong light to the naked eye. A maglite inspection shows a little more ultra fine hairlining but overall the disc presents beautifully. It really just needs a good clean having been sat safely for so long doesnt mean its not going to benefit here. The jacket is laminate front to fold over onto card rear. It is also in amazing condition showing only a little ageing and storage wear. There is no damage in terms of spine or seem splits. The spine has lost its flat edge and has squashed but is entirely in tact. The inner sleeve is the original paper type as shown and is in lovely order with no creasing and again lowest possible signs of its true age.
Sadly i cannot play grade the record owing to a lack of player right now. What i stand by is the fact its had only one very careful owner who took care of everthing to the nth degree and a known zero plays for 37 straight yrs with clearly very little preceeding that. The condition is a testament to the above and i fully expect it would bare out upon being cleaned and then played. The few records we did play prior to selling the collection were visibly worse yet played very nicely. I have great confidence in this as i do the others we are selling/have sold.
The price thus reflects the minimal ownership and outstanding condition of the entire package.
