Very often when reading the description of this pressing one can come across a phrase “incredibly rare mystery pressing”. I’m ready to agree that this is indeed an incredibly rare pressing, but the “mystery” part deserves some demystification. The hype around the uniqueness of this pressing is in the fact that its runout grooves contain the “AudioMatrix” machine stamp belonging to the Audio Matrix, Inc. located in Bronx, New York made metal pressing components, including masters, mothers and stampers for the record manufacturing industry. This is an intriguing fact indeed as Audio Matrix, Inc. never cooperated with Capitol Records because the latter had its own metal plates. This circumstance excludes the possibility that The Beatles’ albums “Revolver”, “Something New” and “Early Beatles”, the rarest copies that contain the “AudioMatrix” machine stamp, were pressed at the Capitol Records pressing plants. What is this mystery plant that used the metal plates of not Capitol Records but those of AudioMatrix, Inc. to press these issues? Using a simple methodology of using the pressing ring and the identifiers located in the runout groove, I think it isn’t hard to come to a conclusion that the plant where these mysterious issues were pressed by Abbey Record Manufacturing Co., Inc. at its pressing plant in East Newark, New Jersey. The pressing plant was opened in 1948 and cooperated with Elektra Records, United Artists and other record label. According to Billboard the plant remained active up until 1970. Here is the official information identifying the pressings of this factory: “Vinyl pressed by this plant can usually be identified by a 2.75" pressing ring and the letters "AB" or (A) etched in runouts, often accompanied by a date." This description fully corresponds to this currently listed copy of “Revolver”. It’s possible to state for sure when this only one batch of unique contract pressings was manufactured. Throughout many years of collecting I’ve had several copies like this and all of them have had the same date in the runout groove: “10-12-66”. This  date and the absence of first names in the “Lennon-McCartney” author credits on the 1st print labels allows to confidently state that this very early  issue is the 1st contract pressing that wasn’t pressed at the Capitol Records pressing plant. 1st print cardboard Mono cover still remaining in its original factory shrink wrap contains an incredibly rare authentic original yellow oval 3” x 2” "Includes The Beatles' Fabulous "Yellow Submarine" & "Eleanor Rigby"! ST-2576” promotional singles hype sticker affixed to the shrink wrap on the front. This sticker was applied to a very limited number of copies of the album. Interestingly enough, Capitol Records printed these stickers with the stereo prefix only (ST-2576), but they were applied to Mono covers as well, just like in this case. Since the hype sticker was affixed to the very early copies, it's most likely, this copy has the 1st print Mono labels with the "Lennon-McCartney" author credits (The later pressings used the authors’ full names). The cover that Capitol Records delivered to Abbey Record Manufacturing Co., Inc. contains the RIAA “6” factory designated number in the lower right-hand corner on the back and was most likely was intended for the Capitol pressing plant in Los Angeles. The heavyweight contract pressing vinyl manufactured at the Abbey Record plant in New Jersey with the full matrix numbers in the runout groove: Side 1 - T1-2576-A 10-12-66 AB 12-66 AudioMatrix

Side 2 - T2-2576-B 10-16-66 AB 12-66 AudioMatrix. The album comes with the original gold Capitol Records “Capitol ’66: Sounds Great!” inner sleeve.

The cover and the original inner sleeve are in amazing Near Mint Minus condition, just like the glossy vinyl which has only a couple of very light non-feelable surface marks. The Near Mint labels are super clean and don't have any wear, scuffs or spindle marks. The vinyl sounds great with only some very light static which most likely will get reduced or go away if the record is cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine.
