Description
An original 1st issue of Revolver from the time of release on UK Parophone. Matrix 2/3. Ok, so lets clear up any confusion immediately - very 1st pressing is denoted by a 2/1 matrix and an alternate TNK version. THIS IS NOT THAT COPY. Only available for a very short period of time in the first few days of release - that copy is very difficult to get hold. What we have, here, is a copy from the immediate period afterwards - as the album charted. How do we know? Well, the early copies are identified by an abbreviated "Dr.Robert" track on the labels. So the story goes... Lennon stepped in early on and mentioned that the abbreviation was not in keeping with subject matter of the track. The track, even from fairly early on, would be forever after be known as 'DOCTOR ROBERT'. Well worth going for the early copies as they were pressed heavy and have fantastic audio. The vinyl comes housed in a pristine looking mono cover. We also have an original Emitex from the mid-sixties period too.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In remarkable condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of lightest marks per side. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Now, don't go underestimating a grading like that on Revolver. I would almost never use a grading at this level because they are extremely hard to track down in this condition. And Revolver is a notoriously fussy record for audio. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. Not sure I've ever witnessed a better playing Revolver copy - which is a pretty high accolade. What is important is that it's seen very light use - and this means you actually stand half a chance of a clean rendition in all those delicate fussy tracks like...Hear There Everywhere, Rigby, Submarine. I can assure you very very few copies...even good looking ones can navigate these ones without problem. All I can detect was a few minor crackles in one spot per side [e.g. HTE - and even then this is probably the cleanest rendition I've ever heard for this mega fussy track]. A super player in every respect. Don't think you'll be getting anywhere near this copy without a monster search...It is that damn good.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) Wow, if the Lp wasn't impressive enough....what about this cover. Literally unbelievable. . Very rarely do you see this title with a perfectly flat white front. That camera imaging is a genuine reflection of how white the cover is. When you actually hold a truly perfectly preserved copy - it is just wow wow wow. All I can make out on the front is a couple of minor thumbnails. Now the rear is easier to find in better condition - but I'd argue almost no copy will hit the preservation this example is exhibiting. The rear is perfectly flat and smooth without any surface wear at all. It has clearly never been anywhere near damp. the flipbacks are perfectly intact and secure. Hardly any edge wear and firm opening. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. Bag present. No splits.
