THE BEATLES: "REVOLVER" LP - Japan Original 60s Stereo Press (Odeon OP 8443)
Japanese vinyl releases are premium quality pressings, much sought after by audiophiles and collectors alike. In the 1960s Toshiba pioneered top quality red vinyl pressings using their trademark ‘Ever-Clean’ process this utilised a special ingredient intended to prevent the build-up of static electricity on the vinyl. Japanese pressings are synonymous with quality - the vinyl shines like no other vinyl - everything about their releases feels special. When US audiophile label Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab first released their series of high quality pressings the records were manufactured in Japan. The sonic quality of Japanese pressings is considered to be among the best in the world and, in addition, they are beautifully presented, their covers usually printed on better quality heavy stock paper and often including a bonus lyric insert with dual language Japanese and English text. Nearly all Japanese LPs were issued with an ‘obi’ - literally translated this means ‘sash’ and is derived from the obi - sash - worn around the traditional kimono dress. This delicate paper strip, usually wrapped around the left side of the album cover, often contains marketing information and album content details, all printed in Japanese kanji and ~kana script. Japanese records make a stunning addition to any collection. Audibly and visually they present the collector with an authentic feast of delights.
Fabulous translucent red vinyl is in superb condition, on first inspection it looks very little played, retaining most of its original shine. This one has obviously not been played much, and always treated with extreme care - a beautiful piece! As you surely already know, it's becoming increasingly difficult to find classic vinyl in such nice condition. This one has no bad scratches, no hairlines, just a few light surface marks and paper scuffs seen under strong light, and without any impact on sound reproduction. Playing the record, I can confirm that play-grade coincides with visual grading - it plays superbly, without any clicks or pops, jumps or crackle. Record is graded as excellent to near mint, if not better!
Original silver-and-black Odeon labels are excellent, without any tears or writing, and only a few light spindle marks.
Stunning thick-card, fully-laminated sleeve is in fantastic condition for its age - please have a look at the photographs, I do my best to give an accurate detail of item's condition! It shows 100% solid seams, no splits or tears, no writing, no ring, no spine wear, near perfect graphics, and only slight general wear - especially around corners - to detract it from attaining an even higher grade! Spine is fully and clearly readable. Cover must warrant an excellent grade, if not better! Also included are lyric insert and original inner sleeve - in nice condition although with a couple of small splits. Also please note obi strip is not original, but just a reproduction of the original style, printed on high-quality photo paper - which I will include as a FREE BONUS for winning bidder! These pressings are extremely hard to find, in any condition - even more so on the stunning shape this one is in. Don't miss your chance to own one!

On 31-Dec-05 at 15:52:53 GMT, seller added the following information: After repeated requests from several fellow eBayers, I've just had a very close listen to the whole of the album. And while visual inspection still shows full shine - although more of a near excellent than a near mint, with a few light surface marks with no impact on playing - play-grade appears to be a notch below that, with light surface noise noticeable between some of the tracks and on quieter parts. Other spaces between tracks are dead-silent, though! In my opinion, it does not detract, and it still deserves an excellent grade, but I just wanted to clarify this matter for all prospective bidders. Once again, thanks for your interest, and good luck if bidding!price rating
