The Beatles  Rarities Vinyl 12 inch LP Ultra Rare (Different Cover From Usual Blue)
Very Rare

On March 24,1980, American Beatle fans received an interesting present from Capitol Records. It was "Rarities," an album of 15 tracks that foreshadowed what would come later in the Beatles Anthology and more recently in the remastered CDs.

The 15 tracks were either not previously available in the U.S. or were rare mixes. And there were some real gems.

The album marked the first appearance in the U.S. of the version of "Love Me Do" with Ringo Starr on drums. The common version, up until that time featured Andy White on drums and Ringo Starr on tambourine. Though it had previously been released in North America on a Canadian single, it was never released in America until this album.

It also included a new mix of "Penny Lane" in stereo featuring the rare trumpet ending that was found previously on a promotional single. (See video above.)

A couple of tracks that just became more widely available again through the remasters were also included.  "Don't Pass Me By" and "Helter Skelter" from the White Album were featured in mono. Most of the American audience, up to that point, hadn't heard them.

The album also featured an alternate edit for "And I Love Her" with an alternate ending, a stereo version of the German "Sie Liebt Dich" ("She Loves You") and the mono version of "Help!"
