THE BEATLES - 'RUBBER SOUL'

This 1965 MONO UK 1st pressing dates from the day of release and is on the black and yellow Parlophone label: PMC 1267.  The “Sold in U.K.” text is present and the “KT” embossed tax code is embossed on the side 2 label.

Matrix numbers: XEX 579-4 & XEX 580-4

Stamper Codes: 8 GPH & 8 GOP

Housed within its front laminated ‘Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd.’ printed cover with the Patents Pending text.

Complete with its original and correct “Use EMITEX” rice-paper lined inner.

CONDITION:

Labels: EXCELLENT -

A clean & unworn pair, but both have a moderate amount of spindle hole markings.

Playing Surfaces, Visual: EXCELLENT

Both playing surfaces are extremely clean and retain all of their 'as new' deep-gloss shine.  There are several light surface marks consistent with fingernail contact on side 1 along with a couple of the same on side 2, but no further significant or major blemishes.

Sound Quality: EXCELLENT +

This fine sounding copy still plays 'as new', due to the heavy, deeping pressed grooves.  No ticks, clicks, pops, or static sound detract from the superb audio this disc has had since it left the shop.  One to really enjoy.

Cover: VERY GOOD -

This correct & solid example bears moderate storage wear and some general grubbiness.  The front panel has a moderate amount of thumbnails and seam creases but remains strong.  At some point in the past someone filled-in some missing coloring with ink but this does little to detract from its visual appeal.  There is little wear to the opening edges and no tears or major damage. The rear panel is age-toned. There is some flaking of the laminate along the flip-backs but none are split.

Inner: VERY GOOD +

An age-toned example with a 1 ½” split on one side and a 3” split on the other.  The bottom seam is strong.

Grading performed under strong daylight and a halogen desk lamp to UK ‘Record Collector’ standards.  Play graded at volume, in its entirety on a properly set-up Rega deck with Shure cartridge.  Care is taken to pack items for shipping.  Discs are always removed and placed in replacement sleeves to prevent splitting to the originals.
