Description

This is a very first press mono copy of Revolver released on 5 August 1966.

The matrix numbers are XEX 605-2 and XEX 606-1 which marks it out as one of the very first presses of the album containing the hastily withdrawn remix 11 of Tomorrow Never Knows and making it one of the most sought after Beatles records.

The mothers/stampers are side one 1 A and side two 2 RL and it has the KT tax code.

The perimeter text starts The Gramophone Co Ltd  and it has the Sold in the UK subject to…text under the yellow Parlophone. Both the sleeve and the label have the track Doctor Robert on side 2 mis printed as Dr Robert. Another thing to note is that each track has it’s own line on the labels and after the title it lists the composer followed by the lead singer. This changed less than a year later when the tracks were listed one after the other and after them it listed the lead singer first then the composer.

The sleeve is in very good to excellent condition, as seen from the pictures, just some minor ringwear evident on the rear. The tapered spine is fully readable.

The record itself is also in excellent condition. It still retains a nice shine though there are a few marks to be seen that do not interfere with the playback at all. There is some crackle here and there, most noticable between tracks, but no skips or jumps - nothing to spoil the enjoyment of the music. A professional clean would probably improve the playback even more. You'll see from the pictures that there is very little wear around the spindles though there are a few light age marks on the labels.

If you're looking for a museum quality final upgrade this is not quite it but it is a great example of a very first press.

UK Only - will be sent signed for in record mailer with stiffeners
