Description
Please read the Item Description through carefully before deciding to purchase this item. I recommend you pay particular attention to the P&P/ Shipping section & the Condition section.
Here is the original 14 track UK Mono LP/ Album Please Please Me by The Beatles from 1963. Housed in a front laminated flip back sleeve & released on Parlophone Records, the Catalogue Number is PMC 1202. The label features gold writing on a black background. The track listing is I Saw Her Standing There, Misery, Anna (Go To Him), Chains, Boys, Ask Me Why, Please Please Me, Love Me Do, P.S. I Love You, Baby It’s You, Do You Want To Know A Secret, A Taste Of Honey, There’s A Place & Twist And Shout. The package was made in Great Britain for UK release. PLEASE NOTE: In order to show as much detail as possible, two pictures have been merged together to create a single image (e.g. views of the bottom & side edges).
Side 1 Matrix: XEX 421- 1N (6 o’clock) RG (3 o’clock) 2 (9 o’clock)
Side 2 Matrix: XEX 422- 1N (6 o’clock) GA (3 o’clock) 1 (9 o’clock)
The Matrix Numbers are described using a clock face. The first part is the main body of the Matrix Number. It will be at 6 o’clock if it is located in front of the label with the writing curving away from me at the ends (as I look) and at 12 o’clock if it is located behind the label with the writing curving towards me at the ends (as I look). Other times give a rough idea of where additional parts of the Matrix Number are located, in relation to the main part. It’s not meant to be foolproof, just to give an idea of where the various parts of the matrix are, in relation to each other.
A large “MONO” is written in the top right of the front cover. The front photograph is credited to Angus McBean. It is written as Photo: Angus McBean & is located to the bottom right, less than 5mm from the bottom edge. Unlike the description in the Record Collector Rare Record Price Guide 2020, this example has the “P” of “Photo” just about level with the end of the second letter “S” in the word “songs” in the album title. The Rare Record Price Guide States “”A” of Angus starting under second letter “S” in the word “songs” in the album title. After consulting as many pictures as possible, as well as Discogs, all covers I have seen have the same layout as this example. Writing on the bottom right of the rear sleeve states “Printed and Made by Ernest J. Day & Co. Ltd. London”. The record itself is housed within an EMITEX inner sleeve. On the labels, I Saw Her Standing There, Misery, Do You Want To Know A Secret & There’s A Place are credited to Dick James Mus. Co. (as opposed to Northern Songs). This information confirms that it comes from the First Pressing run.
Condition as follows including photographs: The sleeve is only in good condition, due to creasing, wear & discoloration. There are a few small nicks to the open edge of the sleeve. There is wear to the corners & the open edge of the front sleeve. There is odd nick here & there. The main problem is the bottom edge. It is split along most of its length, with the majority of the flip back missing. What is left is hanging quite precariously. I’ve not attempted any repairs. The inner sleeve is in very good condition. The Vinyl is in very good minus condition, with noticeable scuffs/ marks & a couple of scratches. That said, it’s not terrible. It may benefit from being cleaned. Both sides play through well, with no jumping, skipping or sticking. It’s got quite a loud, punchy mono mix that comes through clearly. The overall sound is good. There is slight surface noise intermittently throughout, mostly in quieter passages & between tracks. I don’t think the sound is invasive & so would not expect it to affect your listening pleasure. I always expect some sound from records of this age & condition. See below for NOTES ON CONDITION*.

*NOTES ON CONDITION: I grade according to the Record Collector Rare Record Price Guide & will not necessarily list all individual points in the written description. There will be a blanket grade for each component (sleeve, record etc), which smaller factors fall into. The general appearance will be clearly visible in the photographs. Please study the photographs in detail as they form the bulk of the description. Please be aware that play grading is based on my interpretation of what I hear on my system only. Although it is an honest assessment, it does not automatically follow that you would reach the same conclusion when listening on your own system, as there are so many variables.
You shouldn’t have any problems with the transaction but please contact me first if you do.
In the UK, please make payment by PAYPAL, UK drawn Cheque, Postal Order or Banker's Draft. I only accept payment by PAYPAL from overseas buyers.
