Description
An original 3rd pressing from summer 1963 on UK Parlophone. Matrix 1N/1N. Vinyl weight 180grams - monster! This is the 3rd press without those additional small 33rpms - both versions are classified as the 3rd press. This copy is distinguishable from the 4th press because there is no mention of 'recording first published' which was added a few months later. The LP is housed in the original cover printed by Ernest J.Day and also included is the Emitex inner sleeve.
Vinyl (Ex) Retains much of the original shine and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are 3 or 4 marks either side - none of which are feelable and, because this is the heaviest possible pressing you can get, they do not even remotely cause issue. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetween are quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity and minimal interference. We only detected a touch of light static in the odd place, but nothing more. The audio quality is breathtaking particularly when you consider that this LP is now 54 years of age! Nothing short of amazing...
Cover (Vg+) Looks to be in great condition and has survived those 50+ years far better than most. Nice and shiny front with a rear that has escaped the usual ravages of ageing. There's a bit of edge wear which is most apparent at the corners and a touch of damage to the top flipback. But otherwise we are talking one very well preserved cover. The text on the spine is mostly intact and overall the cover has superb rigidity for its age.
Emitex (Vg-) A bit aged and the seams have split and been repaired.
