Wowzers - talk about a time traveller!
An original summer 1963 4th PPM on UK Parlophone. Matrix 1N/1N. Please note the lables are consistent with 4th - 'Parlophone' present, NO 'Sold In The UK', and 'recording 1st pub' exhibiting. Well, worth going for the early copies - they were pressed heavy and the audio sounds fabulous. The vinyl comes housed in an original EJ Day flipback mono cover. We also have the original Emitex inner. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In incredible condition - hard to believe that this is a 1963 copy.. but it is the REAL DEAL. Not sure I've ever seen a more pristine looking '63 original. Mirror surfaces, beautiful labels, looking very very fine. All I can make out is one incredibly superficial trail. This mark is being mentioned for 100% absolute critical inspection. This trail is so slight it wouldn't even stand half a chance of getting anywhere near the audio [not even vaguely]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. No kidding... this copy is absolutely amazing. Within the best couple of copies I've ever witnessed. Even reasonably well looked after copies tend to sound pretty impressive - but this baby is absolutely faultless. Super dynamic, great warmth, bags of low-level detail and transparency. Basically - it is the FULL PACKAGE. You would/could spend a long time just equalling this copy. It will play clean into ALL AREAS. It will play CLEAN CONSISTENTLY. Even into the very lowest key moment. SECRET & HONEY - play perfectly. Don't think I've ever witnessed a more revealing copy! You might detect a couple of crackles in a couple of moments per side. But that's your lot. If you're in the market for a best-ever '63 original - then you're starring down the barrel at it... Don't let it get away.
Cover (Ex-) Very very impressive - let me tell you these '63 E J Day originals are a total pain to find in decent condition. That front is - 'borderline perfect'. It is absolutely flat. Only exhibits one miniscule crease. Shows no dulling in colour and ZERO signs of ageing. Think about it... that's a hard find! The rear is impressive and way above the level that tends to surface. First thing is it hasn't suffered much in the ageing process. By and large maintaining a very nice white appearance. I must mention a tiny amount of foxing down in the bottom left corner - and a crease top right. This is pretty minor - I'm just mentioning to be hyper critical. All flipbacks are intact and secure. Edge wear is extremely minor for this vintage - lovely firm openings. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. Truly a superb looking original specimen.
Inner (Vg+) Lightly aged. Two small side splits have been taped up.
