Description
The Beatles Please Please Me - Gold Parlophone Label with Northern Songs credits.
This is a very limited UK mono pressing on the transitional gold label parlophone from April 1963.
it's matrixes are XEX 421-1N and XEX 422-1N on sides A and B respectively.
This pressing contains Northern songs credit on A1,A2,B4 & B6 with the Dick James Credit on A6 & A7.
This pressing was printed and made by Ernest J. Day & Co. Ltd. London.
The record itself is in vg+ condition and plays with slight crackle in-between songs and has a few marks and scratches as to be expected with its age. The spindle marks on the record are not as bad as other copies usually are and the record has M T embossed on the second side of the label. There is the slightest tear on the A side of the label under the credit of Chains but it is hardly noticeable at about 1 or 2 mms diameter. The record is of course in mono so it is how the Beatles intended you to hear this masterpiece of a first record and it certainly doesn't disappoint.
The sleeve However, is considerably worn and has come away from the flipbacks as pictured on the bottom with only the first half of the Ernest J credit holding it together where the rest has sadly been ripped off. The cover also has some unfortunate staining in the top right corner and in this same corner a similar issue with the flipbacks and within shipping I will remove the record from the sleeve to prevent any more possible damage. The spine remains intact with some creasing and tears as all pictured. The Credit for the Angus McBean is shifted to the right as pressings like this one. The cover also has what i can only assume is a slight pen mark on the yellow beatles writing but it is hardly noticeable. I am trying to describe and show this to the best of my ability but this is sadly what lets this copy down as the record itself is really good for it's Age.
Furthermore, the inner sleeve has several seam splits, folds and rips but has a unique Patents Applied For in the bottom left corner which I haven't seen before. I will send the disc in a separate paper sleeve to also prevent further damage.
