THIS IS THE FIRST ISSUE WITH THE DICK JAMES MUSIC CO PUBLISHING CREDITS.
Summary:
On the Black and Gold Parlophone Label this is the **MONO** version of The Beatles FIRST UK Album, considered to be one the most collectible UK Beatles album of all time.
This Rare MONO Vinyl LP is the very FIRST PRESSING released in the UK on the 22nd March 1963 on on the BLACK with GOLD Print PARLOPHONE Label, with the Dick James Music Publishing credits.
Both sides of the Black and Gold Parlophone record labels are in beautiful Excellent Plus condition, the gold text, and the black background of the Parlophone labels show no fading or any hand writing damage, there are very little signs of centre spindle lines. The Gold printed text on both labels remain very clear and legible, these record labels are really in superb condition.
Matrix and Stamper information:
Side 1 matrix is: XEX 421-1N and Side 2: XEX 422-1N.
Side 1 stampers: 1/GG and Side 2: 1 P.
The embossed MZT tax code is stamped around the centre of the Side 1 record label.
Both sides of the HEAVYWEIGHT Vinyl Disc are in superb clean Excellent Plus condition. Both Vinyl surfaces are very glossy, with no more than three light surface hairline scratches to both sides, these surface hairline scratches are not feelable and do not affect the play quality in any way.
The album has been carefully played through ALL the tracks, and the Sound Quality is superb, the LP plays without major faults, with the exception of a small click at the intro of track one, side1, I Saw Her Standing There, there are NO skips, or clicks, and very little background noise, the disc produces a superb sound quality, and also the LP sits 100% flat on the turntable.
The vinyl LP comes in its ORIGINAL Polythene lined ‘Use Emitex…; inner bag, the inner bag is in Excellent condition, there are no seam splits or tearing, just the usual light creasing.
….And the album is housed in it’s ORIGINAL Laminated ERNEST J DAY Flip Back Sleeve, printed with a large mono to the top right hand corner of the front of the sleeve, and Angus McBean to the bottom right hand corner, near to the edge of the front of the sleeve.
The first issue sleeve is in overall Excellent condition, the front panel is very clean and glossy, and shows just a couple of laminate pinches. The opening edge has minimal wear and is flat. The bottom edge of the sleeve show just light rub marks, there is a small half inch split to the bottom right corner, all edges are free from any splitting.
The Spine Edge is UNDAMAGED and the printed wording ‘Please Please Me – The Beatles’ is clearly legible. There are small corner bumps to all four corners.
The Reverse Panel of the sleeve is very clean and shows only light handling marks to the gate edge, and a light water stain at the top by the album title, the previous owners name has been crossed out in ink, (see scan). All three flipbacks are undamaged, apart from what is mentioned, there is no other handwriting to any part of this sleeve.
This is a very nice example of The Beatles First Issue Debut album, with the Dick James Song credits, and with superb sound quality. This album will soon be 50 years old in March 2013./font>
