Description

An original 1st press of MMT from 1976 in the LP format. EMI realised quite late on they were missing a trick not releasing MMT in the LP format. In the UK we had to wait till '76 - unless you'd imported a USA copy at the time. Matrix 1/1. Please note 1st pressings are relatively easy to spot - you need EMI in the perimeter text on the label. The vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover with 24 page booklet attached within. Also included is the original EMI inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex) A beautiful copy which has only seen light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of very light marks each side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with just a couple of very minor deviations. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with tremendous clarity. The only interference I could detect was a few crackles in the opening sequence of 'Fool On The Hill' and momentarily in the intro to 'Strawberry Fields'. All very low in the mix and anything that is vaguely audible dissipates quickly. Other than that it totally knocks the ball-outta-the-court. A beautiful rendition.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) Wow this really has been looked after down the years. First thing to note is the surfaces are perfectly clean and flat - impressively so. There's not really any signs of wear at all front and back..this is really very unusual. The interior looks great and seems to have totally avoided the usual ageing problems. The 24 page booklet is fully intact, but as with 99% of examples, has come away from the main cover. All pages are nice crisp and clean with nothing detrimental. Edge wear is practically non-existent and the openings are still sharp. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. You won't find a better example...
