Highly desirable for its first US Apple press matrices, and hard enough to find in good condition, this copy is in EX+/EX+ condition. This rare US APPLE PRESSING, of The Beatles’ Magical Mystery Tour is hardly ever offered for sale in this superb condition.

This is the extremely rare real thing: a GENUINE  US Apple pressing in EX+/EX+ condition. The record, cover, attached booklet and inner sleeve are all in excellent condition, without any obvious signs of use. See pics. All items are the genuine originals bought together by me in 1971 not reprints. The LP is the original US Apple press stereo LP, which was only played occasionally on top-end audiophile equipment and lovingly cared for.

The first release of songs from The Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour album was the Hello Goodbye / I Am The Walrus single, issued in the U.K. on November 24, 1967. Two days later the Hello Goodbye promo film was broadcast in the U.S. on the Ed Sullivan Show, followed the next day, November 27, by the album and single release in America.
Both the album and the Hello Goodbye single reached No. 1 on the USA Billboard charts, with the single charting for 11 weeks and the LP for more than a year and a half - 82 weeks. Within twelve days of release, the single had sold one million copies in America. On December 8th, a 6-track double EP set was released in the U.K., peaking at No. 2 on the British Billboard charts. Originally scheduled for release on December 1st, the EP release was delayed one week because EMI was overwhelmed with 400,000 advance orders. The main hold-up was the book, which was more difficult to reprint than the pressing of additional records. With the extra time, EMI was able to press 750,000 copies for initial release.
The album feels even more like a collection of singles (instead of an actual movie soundtrack) than Help! or A Hard Day's Night, but maybe that's because every song sounds like it could have been a hit single--with the natural exception of the goofy/weird instrumental "Flying". Even George's "Blue Jay Way" paints a vivid sound-portrait in fascinating detail. And although the goofy TV movie may have been mostly Paul's baby, this album features the two 45 rpm masterpieces that sum up the quintessential best of Lennon and McCartney at this stage of their development: Paul's "Penny Lane" and John's "I Am the Walrus".

This may be your only ONCE IN A LIFETIME chance to own this piece of rock history in this condition.

Though not conceived as an album in its own right, 'Magical Mystery Tour' is almost a companion release to 'Sgt Pepper', albeit not as archaic. 'Strawberry Fields Forever' and 'Penny Lane', as well as being two of the greatest songs of all time, typify The Beatles' gift for studio innovation at the height of its powers. John Lennon imbues the absurd 'I Am The Walrus' with darkness and humour, while Paul McCartney touches our surface emotions with the pretty 'Your Mother Should Know' and the timeless ballad, 'The Fool On The Hill'. All of these songs see the band playing with orchestras, string quartets and woodwind sections, resulting in wonderful music being infused with bold colours. 'Hello Goodbye' sticks with a cheery, conversational, upbeat band sound and the stately 'All You Need Is Love' seems to have acquired its own status as a kind of Lord of the Manor of peace and love songs.

A fantastic time warp example of this rarity in amazing condition, a true investment grade item - get it while you can!
