Brief Artist & Album Info: "MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR" is an album by the English rock band The Beatles that was released as a double EP in the United Kingdom and an LP in the United States. Produced by George Martin, it includes the soundtrack to the 1967 film of the same name. The EP was issued in the UK on 8 December 1967 on the Parlophone Label, while the Capitol Records LP release in the US occurred on 27 November 1967 and featured eleven tracks with the addition of songs from the band's 1967 singles. The FIRST release as an eleven-track LP in the UK did NOT occur until 1976.

After the Beatles completed Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band in April 1967, Paul McCartney wanted to create a film based upon the group and their music. The film was to be unscripted. Various "ordinary" people were to travel on a coach and have unspecified "Magical" Adventures. The resulting Magical Mystery Tour film was made and included six new Beatles songs. The film was originally screened on BBC-TV over the 1967 Christmas holidays but was savaged by critics.

Because EP's were not popular in the US at the time, Capitol Records released the soundtrack as an LP by adding tracks from that year's non-album singles. The Beatles were displeased about this, since they believed that tracks released on a single should not then appear on a new album.The first side of the Capitol LP contained the film soundtrack songs (like earlier British Beatles soundtrack albums), and the second side had the remaining A-side and B-sides released in 1967, with the last three of these five songs – "Penny Lane", "Baby, You're a Rich Man" and "All You Need Is Love" presented in duophonic, fake "processed" stereo sound on Capitol's stereo version of the LP. Capitol used the EP set's 28-page booklet, consisting of 24 pages of colour photos and illustrations and four pages for the song lyrics on its centre leaves, and enlarged the photos and illustrations to LP size to be included as a 24-page booklet inside a gatefold album sleeve. The lyrics to the film songs were also printed inside the gatefold itself. Several years later Capitol stopped including the 24-page booklet and removed mention of it from the album cover.

LABELS:

The Capitol Rainbow Labels are Both in SUPERB condition with NO spindle wear or spider marks to be seen anywhere I would easily grade these as EXCELLENT!!!!

VINYL:

Plays throughout absolutely brilliant with very little background noise. There are no Pops, Clicks or Jumps. The record still contains that glossy sheen though there are several very minimal surface marks and thumbnails to be seen, these in NO way interfere with the superb sound quality. This Album plays up to and  beyond its high visual grading with hardly anything of note to fault. It offers strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear – sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. A typical polished production from George Martin. Minimal surface sound and no tracking issues. This play-grade proved a real pleasure when playing this fast disappearing Apple album. It will prove quite difficult to find a significantly better copy and merits a very strong recommendation. I would grade both sides as EXCELLENT!!!!

COVER: 

The Cover is of a Gatefold format and when opened has a 24 page Booklet stapled inside.  The Original issue has ( "No You're not! said Little Nicola") under the "I Am The Walrus" title inside the gatefold sleeve in Block print and not Cursive as in later issues. The "Magical Mystery Tour" Book Edited by Tony Barrow: Editorial Consultants (for Apple) Neil Aspinall & Mal Evans; Photographs: John Kelly; Drawings: Bob Gibson; is an absolute delight to go through. Full of great Pictures and a Wonderful narrative of the Tour

This has the "Specially Imported By EMI Records etc" sticker attached to the Top Right of the Sleeve. This should NOT to be confused with Later issues!!

This cover is made of a Very stiff card and I am amazed that it has survived in the condition it's Still in. However I will Fully detail any imperfection I can see. The Front of the cover is in Fantastic condition and is Unfafed. There are No rips, tears, creases or writing anywhere. The ALL important IMPORTED STICKER is attached to the Top right of the Cover and is complete, untorn or written on and is Still stuck down. The Spine is in Very good order with very slight rub marks to the top and bottom. The inside Front is in great order with ALL writing readable. The Booklet is whole and complete with No rips, tears, creases or writing, although One of the staples (although still in the Book) has detached itself from the cover. The Book is Still attached by the other staple. The Inner white Back containing the Lyrics is in Lovely condition as is the actual Back of the Cover. the Opening and Outer edges show only Very slight signs of use. You REALLY would struggle to find a BETTER copy This cover is incredibly difficult to find in Ex+ condition simply because of the design and age. However I would be happy enough to grade it as VERY GOOD++/EXCELLENT!!!!

COVER SUMMARY: Not seen often, this one is in such good condition with only gentle clues of age, any blemishes mostly light. This classic cover should (As described)please many collectors.

INNER SLEEVE: The Original and EMI inner has hardly any creasing and all edges are unsplit with no repairs. This unlined EMI inner is graded as Very Good+!!!!

Album Played For Grading: I play/grade ALL records I offer before submitting, I also play them in their entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness. I play from the beginning to end. I use a Linn LP12 Sondek turntable with Ittok Mk II arm and Ortofon Quintet Black moving coil cartridge and Linn Lingo, with my Linn system and Forest Totem Speakers. This system is guaranteed  to pick up any distortion or interference within the sound.

Grading: In my opinion I REFUSE to believe that there is ANY record that can be truly graded as Mint, the BEST that could be offered is Mint- (minus)!!!! Especially so from the 50's, 60's, 70's or even up to the present date!!!! Even copies bought new today would have some form of imperfection on the Record or Cover!!!! Under that assumption I will NEVER use the word Mint in any of my descriptions and Mint- is the HIGHEST grade I would ever offer. So I will only from Excellent, Good or Poor with a -(minus), +(plus) or ++(plus,plus)!!!!
