PARLOGRAM AUCTIONS presents...
THE BEATLES - 'LOVE ME DO'/'P.S. I LOVE YOU'
This rare UK pressing of their debut Parlophone single release dates from July 1964 on the black & silver Parlophone label: R 4949
This was the final pressing of this 45 to carry the original 1962 recording with Ringo on drums.
Both labels include the 'Sold in UK...' text and have upper/lower case 'Parlophone Co...' rim texts.
The 'KT' purchase tax code is present in the centre of the 'P.S. I Love You' label, with 'MPZT' in both run-outs.
Matrices: 7XCE 17144-1N & 7XCE 17145-1N
Stamper codes: 1/RL & 1/RL
Housed in its original green & white Parlophone company sleeve.
CONDITION
Labels: EXCELLENT +
A clean & unworn set showing just a few tiny spindle trails on the 'P.S. I Love You' label only.
Visual: VERY GOOD +
Both playing surfaces are clean & retain a respectable deep-gloss shine. Several turntable scuff marks are present on both sides but nothing we would call a scratch.
Audio: EXCELLENT +
Despite the surface blemishes, both sides of this copy play cleanly and clearly with all the warmth and presence which exists only on these early pressings. Our play-check found no crackle, groovewear, clicks, pops or any other audible distractions of any kind.
Cover: EXCELLENT +
As good as these fragile items get.
