Description

So, why not a 1st press I hear you ask? Well, in reality the Red Apple copies should [in theory] come with a 2U/2U copy inside. They were the true 1st pressings of LIB. This example is a later 1st issue with 3U/3U matrix. I think - on the balance of probabilities - that the record, here, did not originally reside in this cover. I.e. It's not an earliest 1st and a switch has occurred at some point. But that being said it is still a 1st issue from the initial charting period. Please note on side 1 label the '1' of track one can be found directly below the I&D of 'Side 1'. It sounds crazy - but this is precisely the design layout of the 1st copies. Whilst not an earliest 1st press the 1st issues are well worth going for as they were pressed nice and heavy. The vinyl comes housed inside a 1st issue Red Apple cover.
Vinyl (Ex) In super condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of slight marks per side - nothing heavy or troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals, an at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with a minor deviation. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. In my experience LIB is an incredibly fussy record - one of the fussiest by the Beatles.  'Let It Be' and 'Winding Road' are hard to find playing clean even on good looking copies. But this copy is delivering a pretty clean rendition on these two [unusually so]. The only vague issue I could pick out was a couple of minor ticks in a couple of spots in 'Two Of Us'. Given the quality of overall playback - quite frankly no big deal. An absolute super copy for audio.
Cover (Vg+) In great condition and the aesthetic of that front image - has been largely preserved. Nice deep blacks which have not faded - just light handling and a couple of creases. The rear is equally good with just a couple of thumbnails toward the opening. Edge wear is relatively minor - it seems that one or two light patches have been inked in to keep it tidy. The spine is fully intact with all text legible - just a few slight stress creases. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. Very nice indeed.
