The Beatles - Let It Be

(Apple Records PCS 7096 UK Box Set LP 1970)

This is a 1970 original Box Set LP pressing. This pressing is the original South East Asia, Hong Kong & Malaysia Box Set pressing. These are very rare. It was, I believe, briefly issued as a box set in 1970. It was then quite quickly discontinued in favour of the standard LP issue. The box set uses a UK pressed outer sleeve, or slipcase, a UK manufactured inner tray (2 parts) & a UK printed Book. However, the book has been re-stickered on one of the early pages (see photo). Please see below for more details. The LP sleeve and record are manufactured in "S.E. Asia". Obviously, they then imported the outer components of the box set from the UK.

This copy has an outer sleeve which is fully laminated. It is printed in the UK by "Garrod & Lofthouse". It comes with both parts of the inner tray. However, this is quite worn (see below for a full condition report). The inner trays are in two parts. There is an outer wrap-around part, & an inner part that is designed to house the book. These are printed on card, and, again, appear to be manufactured in the UK. It comes complete with its original "Get Back" book. This again, appears to be a standard UK 1st edition from 1970. However, as stated, one of the early pages has been re-stickered with some different copyright text (see photos). This is, I believe, unique to the "S.E. Asia etc..." pressing. The front & back cover of the book are fully laminated.

The LP has a fully laminated sleeve which has a thin spine. It has a red "Apple" logo on the rear sleeve. The sleeve is printed by "Times Litho Publicity PTE. Ltd.". It comes with its original company plain paper inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has dark green "Apple" labels. It has 1st press YEX 773-3U and YEX 774-3U matrix numbers. This is a genuine "S.E. Asia, Hong Kong, Malaysia" Box Set pressing from 1970. These are extremely rare. Don't miss out!

Outer Sleeve: There is an area of mild to more moderate laminate lifting that runs along the majority of the bottom edge of the rear sleeve (see photos). There is a mild to more moderate laminate crease on the rear of the sleeve too.  There are 3 small laminate creases on the front of the sleeve. There is a very small pin-head sized dent, or dink, on the front of the sleeve. This is not too noticeable. There is some light, mild or more moderate rubbing wear on the side edges on some areas. Overall, Very Good condition

Inner Trays: As stated, the inner book support trays come in two separate parts. The inner part, which houses the book, is torn in 3 places. The tears seem to be where the 4 corners of the book would be. The last part, in the 4th corner, is very nearly completely torn too. Essentially, the inner section is in three parts now - very nearly 4 parts! The wrap-around part is complete & has no tears. It shows some mild, more moderate to moderate rubbing wear on the side edges on some areas. A name has been neatly written on the inner part. Overall, Fair condition

Book: The book is totally complete. However, the first 7 pages of the book have come away, as one, from the rest of the book. There are no other loose pages. There are three mild creases across the front & back cover. These are mainly at the corner tip areas. There are about 8 small & light laminate creases on the back cover. There are some light, mild, very mild or very minor handling creases, here & there, on some pages. Overall, Very Good condition.

LP Sleeve: There is mild or more moderate rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is a 1 cm area of moderate rubbing wear at the centre of the top edge. There is a 2 cm area of mild to more moderate rubbing wear at the centre of the spine. There is another pin-head sized area of more moderate rubbing wear on the spine too. The spine text is completely legible. There is mild, very mild or more moderate rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges on some areas. This is not too noticeable. There is a mild crease in the bottom corner tip area at the spine. There is mild, very mild or more moderate ringwear. Overall, Good condition

Vinyl: There are mild, moderate to more considerable sleeve rubs, or surface rub marks, which can be seen under a strong light. There is a mild to more moderate 7 cm hairline surface rub mark on Side 1. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, mild or very mild dull surface marks on some areas. These, again, can only be seen under a strong light. There are no nasty scratches or marks. Overall, Good condition. The labels are in Excellent condition & show light or very mild spindle wear. The company paper inner sleeve is in Very Good++ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.

I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Very Good to Very Good+ overall. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in the background to a varying degree. It is only really noticeable in the quieter places. It never overpowers the music. There are a couple of light or very mild clicks on "Across The Universe" on Side 1. There are no other noticeable clicks or pops. There are no jumps, skips or sticks. Overall, a very serviceable audio copy.
