Description

OK - well, once again, I open a used record cover and find.. something else entirely.

This rather remarkable item SEEMS to be a Swinging Pig (Trademark of Quality) release of SOME of the actual final Cow Palace show in San Francisco by the Beatles, before they went off the road and into the studio forever.
Although it's certainly a record, I am listing it in the "Memorabilia" section because, after all, that's what it IS.
After listening to the album - for which I had to borrow a turntable - I realised that..

A) the running order and the actual tracks do not exactly mirror the official setlist from that show.. but, then again, they don't EXACTLY mirror the setlist from ANY of the shows on that final tour.

And,

B) also mixed in among (and a couple of times actually OVER) the performances are bits of interviews with the boys.. as well as intros by/of Murray the K and Ed Sullivan... and, of course, some zany intros by the lads themselves on stage.

So - the bottom line is that I don't really KNOW what show(s) these tunes are taken from.. but they certainly seem to be from that final tour... and the entire album, both sides, runs about 34 minutes in total.

The ONLY thing that I could find on the entire internet that has the same setlist is reflected in a picture of the cover of a Swinging Pig release called "The Beatles Last Live Show" - which suggests that this was released between the final SanFran performance and the rooftop show... and I have produced that picture at the top of this listing, along with shots of the album. BTW - it IS actually orange vinyl - but the close-up shots make it appear yellow.. go figger.

That picture does show the titles and running order, but doesn't show the spoken sections.

Since I had gone to the trouble of borrowing a turntable to find out WHAT this thing actually is.. I ripped a few short samples and posted them here, including a section of an interview.

but, in doing so, I found one spot on one track that had a few small skips and so I posted the complete section here

These things don't come along very often (anymore) and I have been completely unable to find any actual information about this particular "pig" release... which has, in the matrix area, the number "1800" - but that didn't help identify it at all...

So - here ya have.. SOMETHING.. it's definitely the Beatles.. and definitely from a concert on the final tour.. or several concerts and interviews...
and it's definitely orange and definitely a Swinging Pig release.
As I do NOT have the cover that I reproduced at the top of this listing, but simply downloaded the image off the net (and it's only a thumbnail) I shall ship it inside another generic cover.. well protected... and, as always, if ya have any questions, PLEASE ASK BEFORE YOU BID.
