THE BEATLES - 'HELP!'
This great sounding UK 1st mono pressing dates from August 1965 on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 1255
Both labels include the 'Sold in UK...' text with an 'KT' purchase tax code in the centre of the side 1 label.
Matrix numbers: XEX 549-2 & XEX 550-2
Stamper codes: 5/GDM & 4/GAO
Vinyl weight: 170g
The disc is housed in a front laminate 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed tri-flipback mono cover.
Complete with its original rice-paper lined 'Use Emitex..' inner-sleeve.
CONDITION
Disc: EXCELLENT +
Despite a little wear around the side 1 centre hole, this disc has only been played a handful of times on quality equipment. Both playing surfaces are immaculate bearing only a few barely visible wispy marks from the inner-sleeve directly beneath halogen light, with no scuffs or scratches whatsoever. Audibly it is superb throughout with no trace of any crackle or groovewear distortion - just a touch of low-level vinyl background between tracks. Even the masterful mono mix of 'Yesterday' plays clearly and without distraction. Tough to find a nicer sounding early pressing.
An exceptional example of this easily blemished cover which retains an unscratched high-gloss front panel laminate with that slightly creamy colour consistent with all early covers for this album. There are tiny bruises to the tips of the upper corners and a few small spine wrinkles, but no 'thumbnails' or any other noticeable wear. Both opening edges are sharp & unworn and the exposed rear panel is pristine white and totally unmarked. All flipbacks are in perfect condition, as are the spine and both seams. Early examples don't come much cleaner than this.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT
Along with some gentle storage wrinkles there is a faint 1cm stain & upper edge tear on one side, but no writing or seam splits.
