Description
An original 1st STEREO press of HELP on UK Parlophone. Matrix 1/1. Remember that Stereo, as a format, didn't really start to take off in a big was until a couple of years later. Consequently original 1st pressings from '65 - are not all that easy to snag [especially in great condition]. So, how do we identify a true 1st pressing? There are a few helpful indicators on the labels. 1st press MUST mention 'Sold In The UK' - period! But the other indicators.... the publishing credit for 'Act Naturally' should show as an abbreviated 'Lark Mus.'. Also the track 'I Need You' originally exhibited a space between the end of the track and the asterisk. Sounds a bit crazy...BUT...if you want to snag a very 1st press...these are the indicators you need to track down. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original Stereo cover with flipbacks exposed. We also have an original Emitex inner from the time too. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete. We'll ship in a Nagoaka anti-static inner for maximum protection.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In marvellous condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of slight marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with near superb clarity. Yes, it would be good if all sixties Beatles surfaced in this kind of condition - but unfortunately this is very much the exception...Particularly in stereo. This was the Beatles foray into a more American country style. Consequently a lot of the audio is paired down acoustic. This audio is SUPER hard to find playing clean without annoying background interference. But if you need a super copy for audio...take a close look at this example because it exudes class in all areas. A really clean signalled rendition... for HELP this is absolutely vital. You're going to get to witness all that untainted magic straight from the '65 masters. At worst a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated spots per side. All areas are playing clean. Even the mega fussy ones like YESTERDAY. Super hard to find playing clean - but this example TOTALLY nails it. Not sure I've ever heard it with a perfectly quiet background. Quite frankly - stunning.
Cover (Vg+) Nice to see this very fussy Help cover looking clean with just a couple of very minor thumbnails. Not perfectly white - I would describe as a shade off-white but very tidy indeed [and much better than the typical copy]. The rear on Help is nearly always tarnished to some degree. But this example is one of the better copies I've ever witnessed with only slight ageing. All I can make out is a slight surface abrasion in the top sector too. Flipbacks are all intact and secure. Minimal edge wear and firm openings. A slight nick [5mm] in the middle of the opening. The spine is 99% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. Super specimen.
