THIS PHILIPS CONTRACT PRESSING FOR THE FIRST BEATLES SINGLE ON THEIR OWN APPLE RECORD LABEL IS BY FAR THE RAREST OF ALL BEATLES CONTRACT PRESSINGS.

Hey Jude,Takes 1-6 on 29th July 1968,Takes 7-25 on 30th July 1968 (These takes, 1-25, were really rehearsals) New Takes 1-4 on 31st July 1968 (NOT at Abbey Road, but at Trident Studio’s in London’s Wardour Street) The new takes were basically a layering on to new take 1. The final released version being the third stereo remix of this Trident take. Revolution, Takes 1-10 on 10th July 1968, mixed down to takes 11 to 13. Take 13 had John's vocal added then more reduction mixes too place. 11th July 1968 - more overdubs and reduction mixes to takes 14-16, 12th July 1968 - final overdubs to take 16 and mono mixes made for the single (a stereo mix wasn't made until 5th Dec.1969.

First released on the 30th August 1968, some copies at the original time were pressed by Philips Records to assist EMI who could not keep up with the demand for this Beatles release. EMI sub-contracted Philips to run off a small batch at their Pressing Plant. As you can see from the detailed scan there is a distinct difference between the routine EMI pressing of Hey Jude and the rarer Philips contract pressing. The Philips version displays three Prongs with a wider gap in the middle.

This Original UK Contract Vinyl 45 is on the Custom Dark Green APPLE Label, with 'Sold in UK….' and 'Mfd. In UK' Label text.

The Official Side 1 matrix: 7XCE 21185-1, Side 2: 7XCE 21186-1.

Side 1 stampers: 'KT 5. Side 2: 'KT 3.

Both sides of the Three Prong Record labels are in Mint condition, beautiful undamaged record labels with no more than just a couple of play signs to each label.

Both sides of the vinyl disc are in immaculate Mint Minus, with just a couple of light surface hairlines.

The Rarity comes in an original Glossy Black Apple Bag with Green Apple Logo, and shows some wear.

The Rarest of all The UK Beatles Vinyl 45 contract pressings.
