Original East Coast pressing of the 1st of only two Capitol Records Beatles Extended Plays (EP) issued on May 11, 1964. Hardcover cardboard picture sleeve with the "Four By The Beatles" banner and the EAP 1-2121 catalog number on both sides. 1st print blue "turquoise" East Coast labels with the left justified song titles and songwriter's credits, without the word "Records" under the Capitol Records logo as seen on the West Coast pressing. "Produced by George Martin" credits on both sides of the label along with the EAP 1-2121 catalog number. The vinyl pressed at the Capitol Records Scranton, PA pressing plant with the "IAM in Triangle"  logo machine stamp and full matrix numbers: Side 1 - FP-2121-F3#2 IAM in Triangle; Side 2 - F1-2121-G4 IAM in Triangle. It's incredible but this copy of "Four By The Beatles" comes with an original native still preserved Capitol Records EP shipping box which indicates the catalog number "1-2121" handwritten with a black marker as it was usually done when shipping the records. I had never come across a Beatles EP with the original preserved shipping box. Undoubtedly, the box was also manufactured in 1964. It contains a large red Capitol Records logo, "7-25" numbers referring to the record format and the quantity that fits inside the box, and "Handle With Care Special Fourth-Class Rate - Sound Recording" text. The top and bottom of the box contains a "Record No." field with the bottom one indicating the catalog number "1-2121" with the circled "2", which most likely indicates the remaining EPs inside.

I grade the hardcover picture sleeve as Excellent Minus. Among its flaws one can note a light shelf wear at the center of the front and back cover along with a barely noticeable tiny hole in the upper right-hand corner with a light crease next to it on the back cover. The sleeve doesn't have any splits, writing or tears. The vinyl is graded as Excellent, almost Near Mint Minus, as it has just a couple very light barely visible surface hairlines. The Near Mint Minus labels are very clean with only "F-X-1" Side having a micro scuff at six o'clock, which is most likely a light factory flaw. The vinyl sounds fantastic with a crystal clear sound. The original Capitol Records shipping box is in great condition only having a few very light stains along with some light scuffing along the edges.
