Description
The Beatles Box 8 LP’s British Press Alternate Mixes!
Since no one ever listens to this set, no one knows that it was issued on the tailskirts of the “Rarities” LP from 1980. There were several remixes done, and some brand new mixes created especially for that album, some of which appear in this set. And in stunning sound quality. The entire 16 sides play with absolute punchiness and clarity from fresh plates.
All 16 sides play near mint, meaning little to absolutely no surface noise, and near to perfect silent tracking between bands.
Box--- VG++. A few creases at the corners from the factory, one or two areas of shelfwear. Beautiful, sturdy box! No smashed corners. See photos.
Vinyl---NM. All 16 sides are completely free of the slightest scratch. I’m the original owner. Some LP's have a slight warp that DNAP.
Insert--- Photocopied track listing is included, which was made from the record store from which I purchased this box in the very early 80’s.
Alternate (not “Alternative.” That’s a music genre, not an adjective) Versions
Here are a few examples:
“I Feel Fine” has the clean stereo mix without the reverb that the States got. There is an extended intro, which features some background studio noises, followed by someone’s instructions very quietly, “Go, George.” The studio noises continue during the opening acoustic feedback.
“She’s a Woman” is another clean mix that the States never got.
“All My Loving” has Ringo counting in with five high-hat snaps at the song’s beginning.
“And I Love Her” has an extended ending, with six repeats of George’s guitar phrase, rather than just the four.
“Penny Lane” has the U.S. promo 45 mix, with the extra horns riff at the end. THIS MIX, UNLIKE THE U.S. PROMO 45 IS IN STEREO!
“I Am the Walrus” has another stereo mix, previously only available in mono. The song’s intro has six repeats, rather than just four, and the extra bar of music, which was edited out of the U.S. stereo mix just before the line, “Yellow matter custard” is present.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note that due to time constraints, I have had to stop play-testing my vinyl. However, I am happy to by request. As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
