Description

The Beatles. Abbey Road. Export. UK 2nd Pressing. PPCS 7088!!!
Rarest of all. One box EMI. AND grooved contract pressing!!!

This is a very rare album indeed.

NOT ONLY is the ‘One EMI Box’ Export pressing the rarest variation of all the Abbey Road UK Exports (moreso than the Yellow Black Parlophones and the Two-Box EMIs (see popsike.com and yokono.co.uk/collection for background), this example is ALSO a contract pressing. Not sure which one. I suspect it is a Columbia pressing. Not only is there is a small grooved ridge on the labels (see pix), there are no standard EMI number and letter mother/stamper codes in the dead wax. Instead there is just a singular ‘6’ on both sides. [If anyone can throw further light on this it would be appreciated).

Rare mother /Stamper numbers: Number 6 on both sides, no letters. Reinforcing the fact that it is a contract pressing. P-PCS 7088 is etched in italic script on both sides.

Matrix numbers: Side 1: YEX 749-2. Side 2: YEX 750-1

Vinyl condition: Very clean. Very shiny. However, there are numerous thin wispy surface marks when held up to strong light. A surface mark on side 1 (3cm) barely visible. One small pressing bump on side 2. Would grade vinyl conservatively as EX-, realistically as EX.

Cover condition: Robust laminated cover on both sides. Virtually crease-free. Robust spine. A truly great example. EX+.
