The Beatles Abbey Road Apple LP with Capitol Logo in Perimeter Printing

In this auction: 

·       “ABBEY ROAD” LP by The Beatles  

·       This LP is Apple Records SO 383.

·       The Cover is an Apple-marked cover.

·       The VINYL has APPLE RECORDS LABELS with “MFD. BY CAPITOL RECORDS, INC, A SUBSIDIARY OF CAPITOL INDUSTRIES…” with the Capitol logo in the perimeter printing of the sliced-Apple label.

·       This LP was issued 1969 – 1971. We know this because:

1)   “Her Majesty” is listed on the sliced-Apple label.

2)    “Produced by George Martin” is printed above the album number shifted slightly to the left.

3)   The cover is made of posterboard (not cardboard) with images printed directly onto the posterboard with “Her Majesty” listed on the rear. 

·       The vinyl has a triangle pressed into the trail-off vinyl. This is the symbol for Capitol’s Scranton pressing plant, and confirms this to be a Scranton pressing.

·       The COVER is in NEAR MINT MINUS CONDITION with just very light/slight wear at the top center “blue sky” area that is hardly/weakly detectable. 

·       This COVER shows the “sewer grate” in the crosswalk at the bottom of the front cover. Often the “sewer grate” was edited out of the front cover image by shifting the front cover slick downward to show more tree leaves and blue sky at the top.

·       The VINYL is in NICE VG CONDITION with very light/slight surface hairlines/scuffs (but none are “feel-able”). The vinyl has lots of gloss!

·       There were 7 pressings of the “Abbey Road” LP on the Apple Records label from 1969 to 1975. But only 2 of these pressings, the original 1st pressing and the pressing in this auction, had the Capitol logo in the perimeter print. Both pressings with the Capitol logo in the perimeter print have become VERY desirable and MUCH harder to find than the pressings with “Mfd. by Apple” print on the labels.
