Description

Welcome to 20th Century Collectables

Quality vinyl for the discerning collector

The Beatles – Revolver 1966 – UK 1st STEREO pressing on the yellow & black Parlophone label, PCS 7009 dating to August 5th 1966.

20th century collectables is pleased to offer for sale this superb fresh STEREO copy of The Beatles masterpiece – Revolver.

In 1966 EMI were still producing vast quantities of mono records compared with stereo and as such these stereo records are far scarcer than their mono counterparts.

This record has stunning vinyl and a shop fresh Garrod & Lofthouse flipback cover. The stereo audio is also superb.

Whilst the Beatles were still living up to their ‘mop top’ image on tour a completely different side was emerging in the studio. Revolver is both melodic and experimental, it pushed the boundaries of music to a new place and is considered to be a masterpiece. This stereo version differs from the mono version in various aspects and sounds as fresh today as it did when it was originally released.

Happy bidding and good luck!

Disc

Visual: EXC+/MINT-

The disc looks mint in strong daylight and has no major or significant marks at all, one has to look very carefully in strong light to pick out the faintest of light surface marks. Under a strong halogen desk light nothing much more is revealed other than the faintest of whispy sleeve removal marks. Only a true MINT graded  record would upgrade this vinyl. The vinyl lies 100% flat on the turntable.

Labels:  EXC+/MINT-

A great set of labels with evidence that the record has only been played a handful of times.

Audio:  EXC+/MINT-

Stunning audio throughout with no groovewear or distortion to any of the music signals. I detected some very light static audible at high volume between some tracks but all in all a great listening experience. The record does not jump or stick and there are no loud pops or ticks.

Cover

EXC+/MINT-

A fabulous cover and virtually impossible to find in this remarkable condition. The front panel retains its high gloss laminate finish and shows very little signs of wear or ageing. The black panel, which is notoriously easy to mark, has no  handling marks whatsoever. The only flaw which prevents a higher grading is a tiny abrasion or scuff along the top flipback. The spine is in perfect uncrushed condition. A truly stunning example of this Klaus Vormann iconic cover.

Inner-sleeve EXC+

Clean & correct with no writing.
