Description

The Beach Boys- All Summer Long released in 1964 by Capital Records (T 2110) in Mono. This vinyl record is in mint/ never before opened or played condition and would make a great collectors item.

This is a rare print that includes a typo of one of the Beach Boy songs. The song should be called "Don't Back Down" on the front cover but instead reads "Don't Break Down." Don't Back Down is typed out properly on the back cover.

The corners of the sleeve have slight wear and there is a small rip in the shrink wrap on the back of the album.

The Beach Boys' second album of 1964 (they released four that year!) was released at the height of rampant Beatlemania. But that stiff competition only served to push Wilson and his band to new creative heights. The budding transatlantic rivalry also effectively made this the final album of Brian Wilson's early sun-'n'-fun period--his personal introspection and insecurities would increasingly inform his work hereafter. That either dates All Summer Long or marks it as a time-capsule classic (more likely the latter). Wilson's Phil Spector-inspired production blossoms in service of such pressing concerns as the fun of motorcycling ("Little Honda"), seasonal fun ("All Summer Long") and the joys of dining out ("Drive In"). But the Hawthorne Hedonists also convey Wilson's romantic brooding on "Hushabye" and "Girls on the Beach," bittersweet reminders of how fragile their leader was at heart. All Summer Long now seems an ironic tribute to a simpler, long-vanished American ethos. --Jerry McCulley
