Description
'Stage Fright' is The Band's 3rd studio album (SW-425) and was released almost 51 years ago today (August 1970) and quickly became one of their most popular and successful albums. It peaked at #5 on the Billboard charts and was certified "Gold" in less than a year.
The copy I'm offering is the very first Canadian pressing from the initial August 1970 release date. It also happens to be the best sounding analog version of this album I've ever heard. Deep and heavy bass....detailed highs....solid percussion....an incredible vinyl pressing. This particular pressing is also known as the Glyn Johns/Robert Ludwig "Hot Mix" version. I challenge anyone to find a better sounding copy.
Cover: Near Mint....the very first Canadian pressings had an almost rough "sandpaper" type texturing to the front and back....very different from the 1st U.S. copies. The American covers were a more matte and "crude" finish type. The colors are still remarkably vivid....barely any wear to the edges ....very minor wear to a couple of the corners. Have a look at the pictures....they pretty much tell the whole story.
Record: Excellent ~ Near Mint(-) ......50 years on.... the thick and heavy vinyl still shines like new. There are some superficial (sleeve retraction) lines and marks which are visible but the vast majority do not have any significant bearing on the audio. The lime-green labels look fantastic and barely show any spindle marks....I doubt this record has been played more than 4 or 5 times. A very impressive 1st Canadian pressing of a true rock classic.
