Description
Music From Big Pink is the stunning debut album by the Canadian-American roots rock band. Released in July 1968 on Capitol Records. The title refers to the house the band members lived and recorded at in West Saugerties, New York, not far from Woodstock. A single from the lp, “ The Weight” reached # 63 on Hot 100 Singles chart while the album peaked at #30 on Top 200 Albums chart. The album is regarded as hugely influential to artists such as The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, The Byrds , Grateful Dead and many more. The cover painting was done by none other than Bob Dylan himself and was deliberately chosen to contrast the psychedelic cover art that dominated album covers in that period.
