Description
Here is a very nice, early pressing, copy of the Beatles' LP "Revolver" from 1966 on Parlophone PMC 7009. The overall condition Excellent.
First, this is a sort of hybrid copy in that the label shows the Lennon song as "Doctor Robert," while the back cover shows the song as "Dr. Robert." Correctly, the song should be listed as "Doctor Robert." Later Revolver covers show the song as "Doctor Robert."
This early pressing contains the tax information: "Sold in U.K. Subject to Resale Price Conditions. See Price Lists"
The matrix information is: Side One: XEX 605-2, plus the initials 'RTA' and the Number '522,' and for Side Two: XEX 606-2, plus the initials 'RPL' and the Number '4.'
As for the vinyl, I play tested some of each cut. Looking at Side One there is a scratch on Taxman, which is inaudible. There is also a scratch on the grooves between Yellow Submarine and She Said She Said that produced two clicks. Other than that, the parts that I played were fine with no clicks or pops.
On Side Two, there are some extremely light marks and none of them, of course, are audible. The entire side plays fine. There is silence in the lead-in groove and silence between each cut. It was a pleasure listening to these cuts in Mono and with no "clicks" or "pops."
The cover is definitely in Near Mint/Mint condition. This cover is the 60's "flip back" type where parts of the front cover flip back to form one piece with the back cover. The whites of the front cover and of the "flip backs" themselves are almost pure white. It's amazing that they have still stayed that way for the past 60 years since this LP was issued!
