This is a complete package with a rare cover - decent discs - 1G stamper - photo spacer - bags poster and photos all superb
This Garrod & Lofthouse 'Mono' cover features a rare 10mm wide spine - it is sturdy with no major faults or damage - like most examples it looks a little tired and has turned the usual beige/yellowish tone - the spine is so wide that the laminate actually bridges it and has never been attached to the paper - remarkably most of it still survives although some has flaked away and there is some splitting - the wording is still very clear - even though this cover is far from perfect it is still better than most that turn up but please don't expect anything sensational - it would not win a beauty contest but is up there as a comparatively rare variant of a first issue - digital cameras always make these covers look whiter than they actually are - this one is yellower than it looks in the photos
Disc one carries the earliest possible side one 1G stamper and dispels the myth that labels without 'An EMI Recording' were the only ones used initially - hard to find this good as most first discs were generally played more than the second and usually have many audio faults - this one plays brilliantly with lovely vinyl surfaces, near silent run ins and just a touch of peakwear - the odd 'pop' here and there mainly side 2 - no repeats or skips
Disc two carries a very rare side one '3' matrix end digit and no mother number - the vinyl surfaces are superb and appear near pristine apart from a few tiny harmless marks only visible against reflected light - again, near silent run ins and some peakwear - just the odd 'pop' - no repeats or skips Original correct single die cut black bags are as near to perfect as you could expect - the two holes are perfect
All four original photos are as good as new - just age related toning
The original lyric poster is completely intact and just shows age toning
The photo spacer is near perfect - to save time at the factory the four photos were sent out to retailers in boxed sets and were separated by a paper spacer which should have been discarded when the covers were loaded but some were included
N.B. These discs have been played and enjoyed but also handled with care - they are not mint but better than most originals out there
