Description

Attention "Watchers"! I have lowered the opening bid price to $325! Opportunity knocks...

A WORD ABOUT MY RATING SYSTEM: I AM VERY CONSERVATIVE; I DO NOT USE "EXCELLENT" AS A RATING AS IT IS NOT RECOGNIZED BY "GOLDMINE" AS A VALID DESCRIPTION. MY "VG+" WOULD BE AN "EXCELLENT" OR EVEN "NM-" WITH MANY OTHER SELLERS.

Offering up a unique opportunity to own a complete* collection of American mono copies of the Beatles' LPs - ALL FIRST ISSUES!

*These are the major, legitimate releases, therefore not including the umpteen variations of the VeeJay releases of the same material, nor the cash-in releases such as "Savage Young Beatles", "Ain't She Sweet", the MGM Tony Sheridan release, etc.

Full disclosure: This is a "starter" set. Near Mint copies of this collection would be in the "thousands" range, if you could even find all of them. NOT a set for Audiophiles!!! Offering these at a "humble" starting bid price that reflects 50% off the published value based on the conditions I have described from the 2007 Edition of the "Price Guide For The Beatles American Albums" by Perry Cox and Frank Daniels. The 2013 values are obviously higher, but the 2007 edition is still the most recent. The 2013 Goldmine catalog was worthless concerning some of these editions; the 1st Edition, 1st Variation of "Meet The Beatles!", for example, is not even listed, and they only list "NM" prices.

Below is a list of the included albums; the conditions are listed Sleeve/Record/Value/Comments.

The values listed are based on the worse of the 2 ratings (if applicable) between the cover and the record. For example, "Meet The Beatles!" has a "G+" sleeve, while the vinyl rates a "VG-", so the combination gets the "G" rating. This is in your favor!!! I am glad to answer any and all inquiries via message. I use the eBay mobile app, so in many cases I can get back to you within minutes (depending on the time of day, of course!).

INTRODUCING THE BEATLES (VJ LP 1062) VG/VG+/$250 The crown jewel of the bunch; this is the 1st Version, containing "Love Me Do" and "PS I Love You", the 3rd Variation ("Column Back") with the oval VJ logo label. Small splits at top left and bottom right of sleeve, spine is solid. Vinyl has high gloss.

MEET THE BEATLES! (Capitol T2047) G+/VG-/$50 First label variation - no BMI or ASCAP credits. The sleeve is the bummer here. If you have a better sleeve with a poor record inside, this could be a serious upgrade. "VG" copies are valued at $125 (NM $500!) Good gloss still exists on vinyl, despite numerous light surface scratches. Has Capitol inner sleeve, though not the "Deep Royal Blue" version.

THE BEATLES' SECOND ALBUM (Capitol T2080) G/G/$20 First label variation with no running times for "Long Tall Sally" or "I Call Your Name". Has original Capitol inner sleeve. A collection filler.

A HARD DAY'S NIGHT  (United Artists UAL 3366) G+/VG+/$20 Another that could upgrade a good condition sleeve; has the "I Cry Instead" misprint. The vinyl has great gloss!

SOMETHING NEW (Capitol T2108) VG/VG-/$50 Contains unique US-only mono mixes of "When I Get Home" and "And I Love Her". Good gloss on vinyl! Has original Capitol inner sleeve.

THE BEATLES' STORY (Capitol T2222) G/G-/$20 First sleeve variation, side 1 has flaw in vinyl in final track. Another collection filler.

BEATLES '65 (Capitol T2228) NM/NM-/$40 Cover is still in shrink wrap; torn at bottom and right side. Sleeve is BEAUTIFUL, and the vinyl has a shiny gloss with a minimum of surface marks, 1 light scratch on side 2, track 1. Has original Capitol inner sleeve. A great copy overall!

THE EARLY BEATLES (Capitol T2309) G/G/$20 A collection filler, front cover slick well-worn as is the record.

BEATLES VI (Capitol T2358) VG-/VG-/$15 An overall nice copy; Sleeve is the "See label for correct playing order" version (first pressings only). Due to the high sales figures, relatively common. Thus, the lower "VG" value. Has original Capitol sleeve.

HELP! (Capitol MAS 2386) G+/G+/$20 Sleeve and record are well-worn. Has original Capitol inner sleeve.

RUBBER SOUL (Capitol T2442) VG/G/$18 Decent cover, record is worn. Has original Capitol inner sleeve.

YESTERDAY AND TODAY (Capitol T2553) VG/G/$20 Has original Capitol inner sleeve. NOT a 2nd state Butcher Cover.

REVOLVER (Capitol T2576) G+/VG-/$20 Record has great gloss, a certain upgrade if you have a decent sleeve, which admittedly are hard to find for this LP. Has original Capitol inner sleeve.

SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND (Capitol MAS 2653) VG-/VG-/$75. A respectable copy all around, albeit not perfect; has "The Fool" designed inner sleeve and "cutouts" insert.

MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR (Capitol 2835) VG/VG/$75 Tough to find in mono, this is a better-than-average copy. Book is complete though separated from gatefold. Good gloss to the vinyl!

So there you are. The total 2007 listed value for these based on the lower of the conditions between the sleeve and record is $713. Starting the bids at $350. Shipping is free! Returns are not accepted, as this is a unique, nearly impossible to replace set. You are covered by eBay Buyer Protection Plan.
