Description
One of the holy grails of heavy rock/prog rock from Australia, this is the "tent sleeve" edition of the Aztecs double LP "Live At Sunbury".
Havoc Records HST4003/4 NZ pressing.
If you haven't listened to this record you're missing out on something good. The Aztecs led by Billy Thorpe were playing amazing rock and roll in the early 70's after a stint from legendary guitarist Lobby Loyde that influenced The Aztecs to continue their rock/prog fusion. This double live LP captures this in amazing detail. The tracks sound just as good, if not better than what their UK contemporaries were putting out at the time. "Time To Live" sounds like Deep Purple Machine Head-era, while "Momma" sounds like early Black Sabbath. Throw in their versions of classic early rock tracks like Gene Vincent's "Be Bop A Lula", or the slow-burn 12 bar blues of "Ooh Poo Pa Do" that takes up all of side 4, and of course "Most People I Know" .... Doesn't get much better! Features the keyboardist of legendary NZ psych band The La De Das.
This copy has the limited tent sleeve that is fully intact. Comes with an extra tab that explains how to assemble the sleeve. I'll keep this un-completed for the potential buyer to assemble.
Now, to conditions :
Tent outer sleeve: VG+, it has a slightly worn bottom tab where the fold-outs have come undone, and a crushed corner that has caused some light creasing, but it is otherwise fine and intact. Certainly nothing detracting.
Cover: VG+, there is a a crushed corner that obviously affected the outer tent sleeve too, but it has only caused a little creasing. The inside looks like it has been creased a little from this. However- there is no writing, Seam splits, de lamination or marking otherwise. A very nice copy to find!
Records: Both EX to NM, absolutely lovely. There are one or two light spindle marks on all the labels, but this just goes to show it has not been played much. The vinyls are lovely and glossy with only very very light marking and audible wear.
One of the best copies I've seen in my years of collecting.
