The Allman Brothers Band At Fillmore East LP USA CAPRICORN 1973 ORIGINAL [Ex/Ex]

First released in summer 1971 this pressing comes from Xmas1973 - just 2 years after 1st release. Thankfully they seem to have done a great job on the vinyl and cover - even this far out from 1st issue. Whilst not very 1st pressing you're still not too far from those original masters and pressing quality seems to be top-order with nice solid vinyl employed. Etchings [AT/DK] - As I mentioned, NOT the very 1st cut. Interestingly on this copy the pink labels [used on the 1st issues] exhibit the "1841 Broadway" address on one side..and "75 Rockefeller Place" on the flipside - so this is, in effect, a transitional pressing from the time Atlantic were moving offices [Sides 2&3 one one disc with 1&4 on the other]. The vinyl comes housed in an original heavy-card pasted cover. The cover mentions Capricorn in the top left corner - and still mentions the '1841 Broadway' address down in the bottom right. And thanks to the weight and print quality, and a beautiful interior, you REALLY get to appreciate this cover as a piece of artwork in its own right. Also included are both the original Atlantic inner sleeves. So,100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex) In lovely condition and has clearly only seen relatively light careful use. Under lose inspection there are a few light marks per side, a couple of very superficial trails - but nothing heavy or sinister looking. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. These early Capricorn pin label copies really are the BEST way to take in this classic live album. The audio quality is absolutely superb. Interference is both minimal and fleeting. Expect nothing more than just a touch of lightest background in a couple of short isolated moments per side. Overall, most definitely a players copy...sit back ...crank it..and take in this awesome performance. The only deviations are... one isolated tick in 'You Don't Love Me'. And, then, in the intro to 'Whipping Boy' - I'm picking up some ticks [ten or so] in the introduction. As the thunderous bass comes in and increases in volume, and the song starts for real, it dissipates. A small price to pay for a fantastic rendition.
Cover (Ex) In lovely condition and really isn't easy finding these original USA covers looking this sweet. By this point in time they are usually exhibiting a fair bit of surface wear. This copy bucks the trend and has clearly been looked after carefully. Front and rear are remarkably free from ageing or wear - barely a sign. The heavy-card means it retains all its original rigidity - and there's barely a single sign of a crease. The interior is nothing short of beautiful - what a finish! There's a bit of edge wear in places - as is common. It just about manages to wear-through in one spot on the rear bottom edge. I've tape repaired internally - so it really is only a minor cosmetic issue. The spine looks great with just a couple of tiny wear marks. Most of the text is still legible. Overall the cover looks very nice - and difficult to replicate in anything close to this level of preservation.
Inners (Vg) In pretty decent condition. But the seams have split in places and been taped up.
