That's Him! Abbey Lincoln w/The Riverside Jazz Stars RLP 12-251 Vinyl Original
This is an original, rare pressing of Abbey Lincoln's THAT HIM! Accompanied by Sonny Rollins, Paul Chambers, Max Roach, Kenny Dorham & Wynton Kelly. Wow!
From the discogs listing, hard to tell if this is a 1st or 2nd mono pressing of this 1958 release. The only difference stated is the 92mm deep groove on 1st press or 100mm deep groove on the 2nd press. (I'd love an education if anyone knows how to tell the difference.) There are only 2 RLP 12-251 pressings with the blue Riverside label so this must be one of the two.
VINYL: VG - I gave this record a test listen and nearly listed as a VG+. There was some light static throughout, consistent with a 65+ year old album. There was no skips, pops, buzzing or other sonic flaws. Visually you can see some surface smudging and two surface scratches that you cannot feel with your finger. The middle label itself looks brand new, out of the box. Some amazing songs, jazz compositions, solos from top jazz musicians at the top of their game along with Abbey Lincoln's cool, smooth voice.
SLEEVE: EX - Wow. This sleeve is impressive. Especially the front cover. A tiny pink nail scratch in the bottom, right corner is only flaw. There are 3 small water marks on back side in the lower middle which are the only flaws on back. The corners are sharp, the spines are exceptional. Tiny pinky nail indentation in the very top right corner. These are all minor flaws and feel comfortable saying this sleeve will wow you. (Wish all my vinyl sleeves looked this good.)
