From the collection of a noted Australian rock’n’roll and entertainment historian comes one from the “Weird…But Rare…But Still Weird” cabinet. Thane Russal’s 1966 original UK single of Drop Everything And Run together with I Need You. It’s an “A” label promo copy, catalogue 20203 and A5570/1. It’s in very good condition, some small marks and minor scratches and may well have originally come from a radio station; there is what appears to be a deep scratch on the B side but it plays very well and there's no or little trace of the scratch when played - to demonstrate, I've made a sound file of the B side. Just drop me a message with your email address and I'll send it through. With enough warning, I can do the same with the A side, if needed. Comes with a non-regular cardboard sleeve. Thane Russal, better known back in his homeland of Australia as Doug Gibbons, took to London in the Swingin’ 60s with abandon and fell in with the Rolling Stones who steered him into a CBS contract. His Security was quite the 1966 Top Ten hit in Sydney and Brisbane but, sadly, nowhere else; his follow-up, Drop Everything And Run / I Need You proved even less popular. Those singles were produced by Paul Gadd, who would go on to greater success, and later notoriety, as Gary Glitter. He knows what these things are worth and he doesn’t really want to part with them anyway. If unsold, these rare items may disappear back into the archives.
