Description

Original UK Deram label stereo press LP.
The first album by Alvin Lee & Ten Years After, first released in 1967. The group was the first act booked by the soon-to-be Chrysalis Agency. They secured a residency at the Marquee, and were invited to play at the Windsor Jazz Festival in 1967. That performance led to a contract with Deram, a subsidiary of Decca Records, the first band Deram signed without a Hit single. Later in October 1967 they released this their self-titled debut album. This is the original stereo issue with the second label variation with the smaller Deram label credits and 2W/1W 1st issue matrices (see Discogs).   The Clout & Baker front laminated sleeve is intact & in VG+ condition, with some corner wear & some light laminate rubbing/scuffing, but the rear sleeve has some damp damage along the bottom edge of the cover. The spine is intact and fully readable, the company inner is intact, but creased & in VG+ condition.   The record is in visually EX condition, with a few faint sleeve removal hairlines and a couple of small needle marks visible on each side. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of a few faint spindle markings on each side.   The sound reproduction is EX, still clear & precise throughout with no loud hiss, pops or crackle & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some low, brief background noise during the run in grooves and between a couple of tracks, overall a really great, loud listen!   The matrix nos. are; ZAL-8050-2W stamper 5B-M, ZAL-8051-1W stamper 1-BU. This is one of the later 1968 copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1967 UK stereo issue of this album!
