On June 16th, 1978, Derry's own Undertones cut the classic Teenage Kicks E.P. at Wizard Studios in Belfast during a single day's session, 4 tracks recorded at a cost of £108. Produced by Dave Smyth, the E.P. greets the listener with a quavering burst of pulverizing, heart-wrenching, teenage-amplified, New York Dolls-fuelled mania. A white-hot collection of magnificent two-minute, three-chord tunes, the 4 tracks, “Teenage Kicks”, “True Confessions”, “Smarter Than You” and “Emergency Cases” are a collection of pure punk-pop treasures. The title track reduced John Peel to tears when he heard it on the radio while driving from his Suffolk home to London (he had already been one of the first in the country to play it on his own show) - it became his favourite song of all time.
Vinyl not mint but in good condition. Fold-out poster sleeve a little frayed at the top/edge but generally good nick, particularly as it has been stored in its own clear plastic wallet-bag for the last 30 years. Number of occasions played estimated 30 times (on a top quality Rega Planar 3 record-deck with extremely light-weight A&R Cambridge cartridge, therefore little or no wear & tear!)
