Description

Genuine 1991 original UK Creation Records pressing of the 1991 Teenage Fanclub
Vinyl LP Album, 'Bandwagonesque' (CRE106 LP) - No Reserve.

This is a Genuine 1991 original UK Creation Records pressing of the 1991 Teenage Fanclub Vinyl LP album, 'Bandwagonesque - catalogue number CRE 106 LP . This is all original the vinyl is in very good condtion, the cover is pretty good too save a mark on the front (see photo) and slight fading on the vertical edges of the vivid pink cover, as you can see from the photos below - the vinyl has been played about 7 times by me.

A note about my approach to selling this record - i strive to take photos which reflect what i see as far as possibe. I take them in natural daylight and enable them to be double-zoomed - so sometimes the covers may appear a bit more "bleached" than in other listings, and the photos take you in effect closer than the normal eye can see..(I don't think people really look at LP's constantly from inches away)
I try to give the interested person as good an idea as if they were holding the record. I don't clean the records as such. this means that there are often only smears or fingerprints; artefacts whcih don't affect audio and can easily be wiped off with a bit of care.
To this end, my review of the record will probably be overly critical. I know you can't allow for every evetuality but i do it this way, as it is distance-selling and i wish to avoid any surprises at the other end.

The item you see in the photos is the item available in this auction. Its been kept in a record storage case.
The format is a single sleeve containing one record, in a semi-gloss thin card inner sleeve which has black and white images of the band on

I'd ask that you please read down to the end of the listing as there is some important info there, including some nice quality photos, grading and some info on shipping etc.

I bought the album before going to see the band at Southampton University in January 1992, i remember thinking how much heavier they were live than on the album . Redd Kross were supporting and I saw Chris Packham there. here are a couple of reviews, one, bad and one, long.

an RS review of the album from 1992

a Stylus magazine review of the album

1991 was a good year for this sort of music, and there was an emerging "indie" scene. Creation records dissolved in 1999, at the end of a decade that could have, but perhaps never quite did. the 90's wouldn't go to bed with either the 80's or the decade we've just been through. and some real rubbish was produced. but then again its easy to apply epiphets in retrospect.
Its my understanding that this record is now deleted.

Please note: other albums listed for auction and in progress :-

  • Yes -Fragile (first US pressing)
    • Beck - Midnite Vultures
    • Pearl Jam - No Code
    • Faith No More - Angel Dust UK double vinyl pack special ed.
    • Tricky - Blowback (Ltd Edition),
    • parliament - up for the down stroke

Now to this particular copy of the album:

I'm starting this at £2.00 and with no reserve, this is going to give everyone a look in and hopefully increase the chances of a proper auction in the true ebay sense

I am selling to raise funds

I'll ship this with a fluted stiffener and a quality 625 micron, side seamed record mailer with fragile and DO NOT BEND (in both English and your native language if outside English-speaking countries) I always obtain a certificate of postage and will remove the record from the sleeve to prevent any ringwear or abrasion.

Hopefully my photos should tell you a lot. I've provided two of each side in different sorts of light. you have the option to double zoom to a pretty large size by clicking on the thumbnail and then clicking again.
i gave the record a wipe with a soft cloth - so what you can see is those filaments of lint or dust that you always get on records - there are also some finger marks. wherever i saw the hint of a buff or scratch, i tried to angle the surface so the camera would pick that up.
Below the photos is the grading system i'll use.

      Tracklisting

As a guideline to help you, I'll stick roughly to this grading system. where I show something like NM/VG- - it refers to Vinyl condition/Sleeve condition
it is surprisingly dificult a) to describe condition without becoming generalised since the surface changes each time i look. and b)taking good photos to show condition. (note: i don't believe in giving NM status - as this gives the impression that it has just left the shop, when I prefer to be slightly critical if anything)
      • Mint Vinyl- unused unplayed still sealed/ sleeve - same
      • Near mintVinyl - evidence of being removed and played but hardly noticeable
        - could pass for new/ Sleeve - maybe the slightest sign of handling if you really looked for it.
      • Ex (and gradations thereof) - Vinyl - tiniest wear, maybe one or two light brush marks in vinyl under reflected daylight but you'd have to look for it - obviously only been played less than about 6 times (Ex-)/ Sleeve - very straight sleeve - maybe miniscule amount of buffing on corners only - no creasing or ringwear visible.
      • VG (and gradations thereof) Vinyl - maybe one or two light brush marks - and light scratching - nothing that would diminish the audio playing/Sleeve- light buffing on corners , perhaps small amount of creasage in sleeve, light buff marks on edges - but nothing consistent.
      • G (and gradations thereof) - more scratches in evidence, maybe a light scratch which can be seen without strong light, and especially without reflected light. speckle scratching - which would be evidence of enduring light abrasion - as if on inner sleeve. audio - although listenable - occasional crackles in evidence caused by physical profile of surface. probably been played at least 60-70 times. Sleeve - ringwear in evidence - maybe shabby edges and definitely some buffing maybe short corner tears in evidence. inner would prbably either be yellowed at edges and possibly torn slightly at corner.nothing though that would compromise the vinyl. (i missed out grading for moderate conditions as one only needs to know if its worth bidding on or not, i feel - none of my albums fall into the moderate or crap categories.)
      • Cr (and gradations thereof) - vinyl - in advanced state of wear, scratches galore and advanced speckle scratching to the point where the needle would probably jump on occasion. - for completists and the curious mainly. still plays but also could be used as a skateboard if you wish. Sleeve - falling apart at the seams - advanced ringwear and corners torn. maybe can see the vinyl edges through the sleeve. creasing or evidence of folding.

      • Released : November 1991
      • Matrix number Side 1: CRELP-106-A3 Side 2 :-" CRELP-106-B3
      • Stamper marks: side 1: 'genius!' and 'Paul's' (pressed at porky's) side 2: ' nothing's final till its vinyl' , 'The exchange' and 'paul's'

        Condition

Overall: Vinyl (A/B) VG/VG+----- sleeve and inner: G+/Ex-
        • side 2 is better than side 1, some speckle scratching and 2 inch bars of radial scuffing but nothing to noticeably degrade audio. .No spindle hole deformation on side A /B

        • The sleeve is in pretty good condition - some buff and fluff on the corners (see photos above), dark wearing on extremties of rear flat..dusky ring wear..pretty light....a bit of fading of pink on vertical edges of front cover. a ½cm x ¾cm mark about 1 cm in and 10 cm down from top left hand corner on front cover - this is where the top layer has comeoff leaving the exposed undercard. As if something stuck to it and pulled it away when taken off. (see photos)

I hope this has helped- please ask if you require any more specific info.
