Prophets, Seers & Sages – The Angels of the Ages is the second album by Tyrannosaurus Rex, comprising Marc Bolan (vocals, guitar) and Steve "Peregrin" Took (bongos, African drums, kazoo, pixiephone, Chinese gong). It was released on 14 October 1968!!

The Vinyl

This is the original heavy thick and chunky type of vinyl with deep grooves!!!(only found on these early pressings!!!!) The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and initiall inspection still retains its original super glossy apearance!!!!! Looking at the vinyl under strong light there are very (very) few,,  fine surface marks\scuffs\scaratches I can't see any major or deep scratches that would have a major adverse effect on the audio! ! I have played this through track for track as usual at very loud volume! The audio is awesome!! Cristal clear and vibrant all of the way through with (no) signs of any distortion or that this has been overplayed at all!!!!! Very Very rare for a T Rex vinyl that is an incredible 40 years old!!! Please note! because I could see very fine suface marks I was listening out for any problems , but I heard no major problems during the audio what so ever !!! I was quite amazed!!!! Only in between tracks could I hear some static crackle which is quite acceptable indeed!!,, i never heard any thing else worth to mention at all!!! The audio is absolutely superbe!!!.   THIS AUDIO IS AWESOME FOR AN ORIGINAL AND RAREST (MONO) RECORDING SO RARE TO FIND LIKE THIS INDEED!!!!!! LOVELY RICH AUDIO ON ALL FREQUENCIES!!!! The only thing that I can say is to allow fror very light static crackle in between tracks and perhapes in some very quiet places but i never heard any major problems at all!!!!! very very playable with (no) loud clicks ,pops, and certainlty (no) jumps or skips!!!!! i would class myself as highly critical Please look at my completed listings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!Please note! It is possible that I may have missed the odd light click or pop but I honestly never heard any !! A very very enjoyable and playable record and extreemely rare in (Mono)!

Please note! I always make this disclaimer!! i have given my honest opinion when describing the audio quality as i hear it! ,, after playing the album on a top system at very loud volume! Although I never heard any major problems other than previously described,,,, Please allow for the odd static ticks\crackle and perhapes the odd light click or pop here and there (not consistant throughout the audio)!!!! Please remember that this is a genuine 40 year old vinyl,, that would have originally  been played on a 38 year old system!!!!

Points to note! This album has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 25 years! ,, and this would benefit from a constant clean before each play! From my personal experiance a build up of dirt and dust in the grooves from laying dormant causes light static crackle and constant cleaning subsequently reduces this and greatly enhances the audio quality!!!!  

The labels

Regal Zonophone labels (only 1st press)   made in Gt Britain is featured (UK presing)!!! Very minimal  spider marks can be seen angled to the light   in my opinion these  show together with the awesom audio that this has not been overplayed at all ! and in fact hardly ever played for a 40 year old vinyl!!!!! little if no spindle ware !! The hole is perfectly round!!!!!!

The cover

This is the original TEXTURED FRONT FLIPBACK GARROD & LOFTHOUSE   1st press cover!!!!  firstly this is strong and straight with all flipbacks secure and intact! Being primarily black in colour this is extreemely dificult to find in good condition. The corners are generally nice and square  (no) splits or tares at all in fact in generall  light storageware to talk of in the form of general rubbing ware and minimal creases (nothing too bad in my opinion) The writing at the spine can be read clearly! This is the original. VERY RARELY SEEN LIKE THIS!

I have taken time to play this vinyl track for track to give a clear and accurate description of the audio quality.
