My People Were Fair and Had Sky in Their Hair... But Now They're Content to Wear Stars on Their Brows is the debut album by British rock band Tyrannosaurus Rex (later known as T. Rex), released in 1968. The record features Marc Bolan on vocals and guitars, and Steve Peregrine Took on backing vocals, drums, pixiephone, and percussion. It also features disc jockey John Peel, who reads a Bolan-penned fairytale for the album's closing track, "Frowning Atahuallpa (My Inca Love)," which includes what must be one of the earliest "Hare Krishna" chants on a British pop record (two years before George Harrison's My Sweet Lord).
The album's music is much influenced by Tyrannosaurus Rex' psychedelic contemporaries, and marks, for Bolan, a rejection of the electric guitar–led freakbeat music he'd been playing with his previous band, John's Children.

This is the very scarce 1968 mono edition album entitled " My People Were Fair and Had Sky in Their Hair... But Now They're Content to Wear Stars on Their Brows ". It is recorded on the Regal Zonophone record label No. LRZ 1003. This is a UK pressed album. ( Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. )
This album is very carefully described as follows:
ALBUM is graded as in excellent + condition with the very lightest of marks seen on the playing surface only. ( Seen under very strong halogen light ). It retains its original deep lustre surface sheen.
This album has clearly been looked after exeptionally well, or conversely, played very occasionally over the past 41 years. It is the best condition copy of this album I have ever come across.
LABELS Are both in excellent + condition with no marks or stains seen at all. There are a few spindle marks seen.
FRONT LAMINATED COVER Is in near pristine condition with absolutely no edge wear or corner scuffs seen.
REAR UNLAMINATED COVER Is in excellent condition with some light fading around the edges only.
INSERTS Contains its original 2 sided poster/songsheet inner which is in pristine condition. ( Can you spot the late, great, John Peel on the Insert ? ).
INNERS Contains a plain paper inner.
SPINE Is in excellent condition with the title clearly seen. ( Pinched spine ends type ) This album is the much rarer mono edition with a very high guide price in the Rare Record Guide Book. I have started at a low price, with no reserve for all interested parties to have a fair chance at owning this wonderful album. It has been thoroughly sound checked on my own Kenwood system and plays without fault and is incredibly crisp for such an old pressing. Best of bidding tlop668.
