Description
TYMON DOGG - self titled
A lovely condition copy of this UK original pressing - the music genre defies description...everything from alternative folk to psych to "gypsy punk" - brilliant, and Tymon Dogg is an undoubted genius!
Year/Label : 1976 OUTLAW UK Label number : OUTLAW 1 STEREO Matrix numbers : I 2 DS.1 A, I-4 DS.1 B Stampers : 1 EG / 1 EGVery good plus (VG+) condition vinyl - 1976 private press vinyl on the OUTLAW label : flat and retaining it's original jet black lacquered sheen and in normal daylight comes across as virtually unmarked - a real gleamer. With close inspection under a bright light a few wispy hairlines and very faint paper scuff lines can be identified on each side, none of which are obvious or feelable and appearing to be superficial though playback does reveal the very occasional and very light click, along with just the occasional hint of the odd very short passage of very low level and background crackle - minor and nothing to impact upon the overall excellent stereo sound quality. The labels are excellent plus (EX) - near perfect in fact, with the only marks being just a few very small and very faint spindle trails next to the centre hole on each label. A very good plus (VG+) condition non-laminated outer sleeve with firm edges completely devoid of any scuffing, including the spine with all spine text remaining perfectly intact. The corners remain near perfect with barely any rubbing, the opening edges are firm with no fraying, and all colours, text and beautiful art work remain in excellent condition with great definition still. The only blemishes are a small "dink" on the front-side opening edge towards the bottom and again on the reverse side edge towards the bottom, some minor (but noticeable) ring-wear on the front and reverse side, and some very light discolouration/light surface marks towards the sides brought on by handling and decades of upright storage. Still fully functional and still highly presentable but not quite excellent. Excellent (EX) stereo sound quality with no sticks, skips, repeats or distortion and background crackle is at an absolute minimum - just very occasional during a couple of the quiter moments/intermissions and even then very background and certainly non-intrusive. There are just a few clicks - all light and nothing nasty : two on A1 and three at the end of A2, and just the odd very random and very low level click. Certainly nothing to spoil a great listen on this hard to categorise LP which has folk, rock, psych, garage, and alternative genres all mixed in together - Tymon Dogg, what a hugely talented musician. Comes with original and excellent condition "MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN" plain white inner sleeve with correct "PATENT NO..." text, with no splits, no edge fraying and barely any creasing or age discolouration. Note that I always ship the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original. A real treat to come across this long deleted and incredibly hard to find folk/rock gem, especially in such impressive condition as this.
