Check out my auctions this week for some awesome and very unique acetates! First off are two two-sided 45rpm acetates from an unknown band called Gary Lee and the Jaguars. The label lists the recording studio as being out of Little Rock, Arkansas. I can’t find any mention of them in any record price guides or anywhere on the internet. So, it’s is a possibility that these are the only existing copies of this music… wow! The collection starts off with a rockabilly cover of George Gershwin’s classic “Summertime”. I never imagined this song could be done in this style, but here it is, and it actually works. The flip is a guitar driven instrumental called “Sassy” that borders on a rockabilly surf garage type sound. The A side of the second record is a fiery cover of Little Richard’s “Lucille” backed with another rockabilly surf-ish instrumental called “Bounce”. I made a youtube clip with a short section of each song… these are complete songs on the records, but I didn’t want to post the whole thing out there for anyone and everyone! The records play with some typical expected noise, but no skips.
