New Orleans pair Twisted Teens - Caspian Honeywell rasping at the mic, RJ Santos brandishing pedal steel like a discreet weapon - return with a second album that smells faintly of porch wood, petrol and yesterday's beer. It drags garage punk through country sawdust and emerges grinning, shirt unbuttoned. 'Is It Real?' opens in twitchy churn, Honeywell barking existential doubt as Santos threads barbed steel through the racket. 'Wild Connection' and 'White Hot Coal' lean into slow-burn fatalism, porch philosophy delivered with tobacco-stained candour. 'Circus Clown' lurches between stomp and swagger, while 'Hurricane' lets blown-out guitar and warped slide duel in humid air. Ragged, but there is sly craft beneath the grit, a bit like lace stitched into denim.
