BLAZING MAGNUM: UNA MAGNUM SPECIALE PER TONY SAITTA
directed by MARTIN HERBERT (= ALBERTO DE MARTINO), Italy 1976
In this violent actioner, a misanthropic Ottawa police captain searches for the person who poisoned his little sister, who was attending the university in Montreal. So desperate is he for vengeance that he casts protocol to the winds and begins using his own brutal methods to find the killer. Soon he discovers that his "innocent" kid sister was involved in the theft of a valuable string of pearls and that she had been hanging around an appalling assortment of creeps and weirdos. The story was originally titled Blazing Magnum. The new title has nothing to do with the film. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi
Blazing Magnums is part Poliziotteschi and part Giallo. Tony Saitta is little more than an animal with a badge, frequently botching his investigation due to his overzealous penchant for sadism, and the many suspects are so one-dimensionally amoral and jaded that it is impossible to connect with any of them. Despite these key problems, fans of trashy B-movies might want to check out Blazing Magnum (in USA as Strange Shadows in an Empty Room) for a few reasons. The first is its cast: Stuart Whitman is amusingly blustery as the tough guy hero, Martin Landau handles the role of his chief suspect with greater dignity than the role deserves, and John Saxon and Gayle Hunnicutt add solid support in minor roles. The other reason is that director Martin Herbert (an anglicized pseudonym for Alberto De Martino) never hesitates to go for the gusto when it comes to action: an extremely well-choreographed car chase adds a few sparks to the film's mid-section and there is also an exceptionally bizarre scene where Whitman engages in fisticuffs with a trio of transvestite kung-fu experts. ~ Donald Guarisco, Rovi

GRADING CODE
Grading is VISUAL, under a bright light.
NM (Near Mint): Record has been opened, and probably played, but is in impeccable condition. I do not use "mint".
EX (Excellent): Has signs of use or storage, but still considered top collection quality. Jackets may display some very light wear; vinyl may have a few light sleeve marks only visible in the highest light. Sound will full and clear, with little if any noise (NOTE, some records are just pressed poorly).
VG+ (Very Good Plus): Still a great copy but has a bit more wear. Vinyl may have some light scuffs or scratches, but nothing deep. Jacket may have some ringwear or seamwear. Sound should be great, with minimal if any noise.
VG Very Good): A great play copy but clearly used. Vinyl will display many hairline scuffs or scratches, but will play with a tolerable amount of noise. Jacket may have splits and wear but will not be falling apart.
VG-(Very Good Minus): A used or worn copy, that has not been taken good care of. Vinyl will have many scuffs or scratches, but play through enjoyably despite audible background noise. Covers will have tears, splits, writing, or other issues.
G Fair, Poor: A very rough copy. Will play through without skipping unless otherwise noted, although records of this grade are sold AS-IS.
DISCOMANE will guarantee an absolute conservative record grading
